Here At JRB

Send In Your Snow Clothes
We always try to get the students out and check repeatedly during lunches and recess to reassess the temperature. With that being said, please have your students wear a real winter coat. We encourage hats, mittens, and more.
Attention PE Classes
Mr. Berg is so excited to take his PE classes outside starting next week (when it is warm enough) for animal tracking! Students will need the following on PE days:
Coats, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots.
If you do not have access to these, please contact us at jrboffice@awrsd.org
Winter means more germs and more nurse reminders...
Nurse Notes
Hello JRB Families,
If you feel as though your student needs to be medicated in the morning to make it through the day, please consider keeping them home to rest. If your student is out sick with a fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea, please see the following policies before you send them back to school:
- 24 hour Fever Free without the use of fever reducing medication
- 24 hours without vomiting/diarrhea
- If diagnosed with strep throat, 24 hours after first dose of antibiotic
If your student has a food allergy or dietary restrictions/sensitivities and requires food substitutions in the cafeteria, please email our Director of Food Services Dennis Mueller @ dmueller@awrsd.org.
Happy New Year!

Music Room News
Kindergarteners have been busy learning how to read and play color-coded music notes on our Boomwhackers, which are different colored and sized plastic tubes hit on one hand, each having its own pitch. Ask your child which song is their favorite that we have played so far!
1st & 2nd graders have been learning how to play the melody and chords of songs simultaneously on our Boomwhackers, which are colored plastic tubes hit with the hand. Some classes have also begun playing these songs on our colored bells! Ask your child to explain what the difference is between the melody and chords of a song!
3rd, 4th, & 5th graders are wrapping up their songwriting unit, where students compose their own 4-measure song and then play it on our xylophones and metallophones. This unit reinforces their note-reading skills, which carry over into the playing of other instruments. Ask your child the elements needed in writing a song!
3rd graders will also begin learning how to play the Recorder in the coming weeks, which is a woodwind instrument that will help them in learning how to play and read pitches for potential future instruments. Be on the lookout for a purple form going home to parents, which has information about the instrument. Be sure to sign and return the bottom portion of the form to your child’s teacher, so that your child can be issued an instrument during their next rotation of music. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Lordan: mlordan@awrsd.org

Art Show Prep Help
Hello JRB Community!
I am looking for volunteers to mount artwork for this year's art show. You'd be working in the library Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. If you are interested in loaning a helping hand, please email me at kdisalle@awrsd.org.
Thanks so much!
Donations Welcome!
The nurse's office could use some donations of pants for all of our kids. From PreK to 5, pants are sometimes needed and we don't have many to send home. Sweatpants and leggings are preferred as they often fit many sizes. Thank you all in advance!
