Tiger Tracks March
Akron Middle School
March Edition
A Message from our Principal
Dear Akron Middle School Parent/Guardian,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we enter the month of March, both springtime and the New York State assessments are quickly approaching.
Akron Middle School will administer the ELA assessments on April 22 and April 23, 2026. The Math assessments will take place on May 6 and May 7, 2026, and the Grade 8 Science assessment will be administered on May 13, 2026. A letter with additional information regarding the New York State assessments will be mailed home in mid-March.
You may also be aware that March is Music in Our Schools Month. During this time, our music program dedicates a tremendous amount of time and effort to preparing and presenting several performances for our students, staff, and community. This year’s events include:
Thursday, March 5 – Music & Munchies, 7:00 PM, Gym #1
Friday, March 13 – Into the Woods Musical Production, 7:00 PM, Auditorium
Saturday, March 14 – Into the Woods Musical Production, 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Auditorium
Saturday, March 21 – Middle School Cabaret Concert, 2:00 PM, Gym #1
We encourage you to attend one or more of these performances. They showcase the dedication, talent, and hard work of our students, music teachers, and musical instructors, and truly reflect the high-quality program we are proud to offer.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Caprio III

A Message from Student Support
With March 2nd being Teen Mental Wellness Day, we encourage families to create safe and supportive spaces at home. You can better support your teen's mental well being by avoiding direct, high-pressure questions such as “Are you okay?” Instead, try some open-ended prompts such as:
- “How has school been feeling lately?”
- “What’s been on your mind these days?”
- “Is there anything stressing you out that I can help with?”
