Eagle Nation News
November 2
Notes from the Principal's Desk
Hello Eagle Families
I want to again thank everyone for the wonderful welcome to Noble. It has been a lot of fun getting to know students and introducing myself to them. The students of Noble are energetic and eager to engage in conversation. I am excited to see their energy and enthusiasm exploring all that they will learn this coming year.
As the new nine weeks begins, it is my hope that students will reflect on what they have learned so far and what they need to continue doing to be successful as we move forward. Be proud of the accomplishments that have been made, and continue striving to achieve even more. We will push on to make sure we further engage and support your children.
Please continue to stay involved with child’s education. Maintain the necessary communication with teachers and the school. We need to make sure our partnership is strong and committed to the success of all our students. I am very much looking forward to strengthening our connections and making Noble the best middle school for your children.
Don’t forget to Vote on Tuesday and support the school bond for NHCS.
Thank you for all you do for Noble Middle School!
Mr. K.

On the ballot, you’ll see a proposed $320.5 million bond referendum for New Hanover County Schools. If approved, the bond would fund projects that address our greatest facility needs across the district, technology & systems upgrades, and enhanced safety.
Be sure to show up to your polling place informed and ready to share your voice.
See a full list of building projects, safety & security improvements, technology enhancements, and other district-wide improvements on our website: www.nhcs.net/community/2026-bond
WHAT IS A GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND?
To pay for large construction projects, a county can seek voter approval through a school bond referendum. Approval does not provide the funding immediately; instead, it authorizes the county to borrow money as needed to complete approved capital projects.
ESTIMATED COST TO PROPERTY OWNERS
$5 per year for every $100,000 of assessed property value ($400,000 home:Approximately $20 per year)
WHAT WOULD THE PROPOSED BOND PROVIDE FOR SCHOOLS?
If approved, the $320.5M bond would fund projects that address our greatest facility needs across the district.

Online Safety Reminder for Families
We want to make families aware that a few students have recently accessed websites that connect users through random video chats with strangers. These sites can expose children to inappropriate content, unwanted contact, and individuals whose identities and intentions are unknown.
Many families may remember Omegle, a website that connected strangers through anonymous video chats. It shut down in November 2023 amid serious safety concerns. Unfortunately, copycat websites continue to appear, and some students may attempt to access them through proxy sites designed to get around existing technology filters.
Our school will continue working to address these concerns and strengthen our technology protections. However, technology filters alone cannot keep children safe online. Family awareness and open conversations are equally important.
We encourage parents and caregivers to:
Talk with your child about the risks of video chatting with people they do not know online.
Check browser history, apps, and online activity on devices your child uses.
Remind your child never to share personal information, photos, their location, or other identifying details with strangers online.
Encourage your child to come to a trusted adult if they encounter something uncomfortable or inappropriate online, without fear of being judged.
For additional guidance, we recommend these resources:
Internet Matters: What Parents Need to Know About Omegle — Information about copycat sites and the risks of anonymous online chats.
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) — NetSmartz — Age-appropriate online safety resources and conversation guides for families.
Federal Resources for Online Safety — Additional guidance and resources for parents and caregivers.
Thank you for partnering with us to help keep our students safe. A conversation today can help your child make safer choices online tomorrow.
Sold Out Youth Fentanyl Prevention Program
On Wednesday, November 4, students will watch an educational video from the Sold Out Youth Foundation (SOYF) during class and have the opportunity to sign a pledge committing to making safe, healthy choices. We encourage parents to review the attached letter and use the provided resources to continue these important conversations at home.

New Volunteer Opportunity at Noble
Noble is seeking parent volunteers to support classroom needs. While these needs may shift and evolve throughout the year, the current volunteer needs are as follows:
- During Mastery from 3:10-3:40 pm
- Volunteers will supervise and support students working independently on their level IXL while the teacher works with a small group of students
- While IXL is an independent assignment, students often have questions and need guidance. Having a volunteer there to handle those questions frees the teacher up to provide additional support to a small group of students.
This is a PERFECT volunteer opportunity for those that would otherwise hang out in the carline during that time OR that would prefer NOT to hang out in the carline at all. Park, volunteer for 30 minutes, and roll out! 🙌🙌 As volunteers will not work with students unsupervised yet, Level 1 and Level 2 volunteers can participate.
If interested in helping, please review the attached Noble Classroom Volunteers spreadsheet and sign up for a shift. This is a working document that will include additional volunteer opportunities as staff identifies needs.
Thanks for your consideration and partnership with Noble Middle School!
