A MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION
Hey Royal Families,
Dear Riverside Families,
We have another exciting week ahead at RMS! A reminder that Exploratory Cycle classes will change next week, so students should be sure to check their updated schedules. We will also come together on Friday, November 6, at 9:00 AM for our Veterans Day Assembly as we honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served our country. Also, we will be accepting donations for our Harvest Baskets through November 20th.
As we move further into the second quarter, we encourage students and parents to stay actively involved in academic progress. Please make it a habit to check Backpack regularly to monitor grades, review assignments, and stay informed about areas of success and opportunities for growth. Staying connected and communicating early helps ensure every Royal has the support needed to succeed!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Have a wonderful week!
With Royal Pride,
RMS Admin Team

Riverside Middle's School Improvement Council (SIC) is looking for a few more parents, staff, and community members to join us this year. The SIC is a state-required group that works alongside the school to help shape improvement plans, plan events like STEM career fairs, and organize Parent Academy nights for RMS families. It's a great way to build community, stay in the loop on what's happening at RMS, and help shape your student's experience — all for about an hour a month.
If you're interested, reach out to SIC chair Cara Fern at cara.m.fern@gmail.com. Please take a few minutes to provide the SIC with your input through our parent survey linked below.
COUNSELORS' CORRESPONDENCE
Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) Conferences
Beginning October 19th, RMS counselors will be meeting with all 8th grade students to conduct their Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) conferences. An IGP is a personalized roadmap that helps students meet high school graduation requirements, explore career and college interests, and plan for post-secondary education or training. Counselors are providing an overview of information with students in classes and inviting parents to join us by phone or Google Meet for our conferences in October, November, and December.
Please sign up for your IGP meeting on the RMS School Counselor Website: https://sites.google.com/greenvilleschools.us/rmsguidance/individual-graduation-plan-igp?authuser=0

PTSA CORNER
Information from the RMS PTSA
Have you joined the RMS PTSA yet? Joining is the easiest way to plug in and support our school. It is just $6, and every membership helps fund the programs and events our students and teachers count on all year long. Join today at https://rmsroyalsptsa.givebacks.com/shop
We are looking for volunteers! All PTSA volunteers must be Level 2 certified. If you are interested in volunteering, the volunteer interest form is here. You can learn more about each role at the link inside the form.
RMS School Store
The Riverside school store is a wonderful part of our school community, and we are in need of parent volunteers to keep it running. We are looking for three or more parents who are willing to come in, work alongside Mrs. Andrade, and learn how to operate the store. With a few more helping hands, we can keep the store open all week long for our students.

PARENT RESOURCES AND SCHOOL POLICY
Car Rider Line
If you have any issues with car tags, please contact the front office.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY
Students are not allowed to use their electronic devices during the school day. Electronic devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, headphones, tablets, smartwatches, and smart glasses. This is not just a RMS rule, this is mandated by the state.
SCHOOL IDS
To help keep our school safe, all RMS students are expected to wear their school ID badges at all times while in the building. If a student forgets or loses their ID, they can get a replacement ID badge for $5.00 or just a replacement lanyard for $1.00. If a student doesn’t have money at the time, the cost will be added to their RMS Student ID debt account. Please note that any unpaid ID debt will carry over to the next school year, and repeated ID issues may result in consequences. Be aware that this debt can impact your student in the future.
Our attendance clerk, Mrs. Erin Karr, will send out email correspondence if your student has a balance due to purchasing new IDs. If you're paying in person, please send exact cash only. If you are paying online, you can pay this balance anytime by going to SchoolCash. If you need help with SchoolCash, contact the SchoolCash Parent Help Desk at 1-866-961-1803 or online at https://www.schoolcashonline.com/.
For more details on our ID rules and other policies, please check the 2026–2027 RMS Student Handbook.
Please contact our RMS librarian, Mrs. Glenn, at sglenn@greenville.k12.sc.us if you have any questions about the current Discus username and password.

SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
At Riverside Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. To foster a secure and respectful environment, we want to remind everyone of our "See Something, Say Something" policy, especially concerning student altercations.
This policy encourages all members of our school community to be vigilant and proactive in reporting any signs of conflict, bullying, or inappropriate behavior. If you witness or hear about any situation that could potentially escalate into an altercation, we urge you to speak up immediately. Your timely intervention can prevent harm and help us maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for everyone. Additionally, students who engage in instigating such incidents will be subject to disciplinary consequences.
Students, if you feel uncomfortable or threatened in any situation, please do not hesitate to reach out to a trusted adult—whether it’s a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Parents and guardians, we ask that you encourage your children to share any concerns they may have, either directly with us or through you.
By working together and being proactive, we can ensure that RMS remains a place where all students feel safe, respected, and valued.
