Prayer

Lord,

We acknowledge our responsibility to care for and bring healing to Country and our nation.

Forgive us for the times when we have failed to do so.

Increase our capacity this NAIDOC Week to humble ourselves and listen afresh to truly hear the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Amen

As we arrive at the final week of Term 2, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff and families for what has been another busy and rewarding term. It has been wonderful to see the growth our students have made, not only in their learning, but also in the way they continue to demonstrate our school motto of Love, Unity and Peace each day.

Although NAIDOC Week officially falls during the school holidays, we have celebrated as a school community this week. On Tuesday morning, our Year 6 student leaders led us in a whole-school NAIDOC Liturgy as we reflect on this year's theme and recognise the rich history, culture and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Throughout the week, students have also participated in buddy activities and classroom learning experiences that encourage respect, reconciliation and an appreciation of Australia's First Nations peoples.

As the term draws to a close, I encourage everyone to take time over the holidays to rest, recharge and enjoy quality time with family and friends. School holidays provide an important opportunity for our students to refresh before another exciting term of learning.

A reminder that Term 3 commences on Monday 20 July. There is no pupil free day, and we look forward to welcoming all students back for the first day of the new term.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support throughout the semester. It is a privilege to work alongside such a caring and committed school community.

Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing and happy holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.

Don't forget your Footy Colours tomorrow! :)

Green lights,

Jesse Yock

Principal

Car Park Safety Reminder Car Park Safety Reminder

The safety of our students is always our highest priority. We would like to remind parents and caregivers that children should not be left unattended in vehicles when adults enter the school grounds for meetings, appointments or any other reason.

Recently, staff observed students attempting to move between vehicles in the car park while a parent was away from their vehicle. Situations such as these create significant safety risks for all members of our community.

Parents are responsible for supervising their children before and after school. If you need to come into the school, please ensure your children accompany you or remain under the supervision of a responsible adult.

We also ask all families to exercise caution in the car park, follow designated traffic flow procedures and remind children to walk safely at all times.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone at Queen of Apostles.

The 2026 Religious Education Assessment (REA)

In Catholic schools across Western Australia, students enrolled in Years 3, 5 and 9 participate in a system-wide, online assessment in Religious Education. The administration of the assessment in 2026 will be:

Year 3: Tuesday 4th August

Year 5: Thursday 6th August

Students following a regular classroom program are expected to participate. Students with disability are entitled to participate. However, exemptions may apply.

The purpose of the REA is to measure student learning of the mandated content in the Religious Education Curriculum. Test items relevant to each participating year level are developed by the Religious Education Directorate at the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia. The test items consist of multiple choice, short and extended response. The students’ faith is not assessed using the test items.

As a system-wide assessment, the REA informs teaching and assessment practices in Religious Education by providing classroom teachers, school and system leaders with a ‘point in time’ snapshot of student achievement. Over time, the REA also provides information about student progress in Religious Education.

Formal student and school reports are produced from the student achievement data generated from the REA. The reports are made available to schools in Term Four. A copy of your child’s results will be sent to you. The information provided by the REA reports aims to complement the school-based assessment programs in Religious Education.

Please contact your child’s teacher or me if you have any enquiries regarding the administration of the Religious Education Assessment.

Volunteers Volunteers

The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.

Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
