Superintendent's message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The recently released 2025–2026 assessment results make it clear that student achievement in Newport Public Schools is not where we want or expect it to be. We recognize the challenges before us and are committed to confronting them directly, using the data to guide meaningful improvements in curriculum, instruction, and student support.
I am confident in our educators, our leadership team, and our collective ability to make the difficult but necessary educational decisions that will improve student outcomes. Our focus is not on making excuses, but on taking action, holding ourselves accountable, and ensuring that every student receives the high-quality education they deserve.
Students currently in grades 4–9 will receive their individual assessment results next week. I encourage parents and guardians to review these results carefully and contact their child's building principal if they have any questions or concerns. Open communication between our schools and families is essential as we work together to address areas where students need additional support.
Improving student achievement is a shared responsibility. It will take a strong, collaborative effort between our educators, families, and the entire Newport community to ensure that all of our children have the opportunity to succeed at high levels.
We know where we stand, we know we must do better, and we are determined to make that happen.
Sincerely,
Peter Sanchioni, Ph.D.
Superintendent

Senior Traditions: Celebrating Our Tennis Vikings!
ROGERS ATHLETICS | SENIOR NIGHT 2026
Wednesday was about more than tennis. It was about celebrating friendships, teamwork, memories, and the special traditions that make being a Rogers Viking so meaningful!
Our Rogers Girls Tennis Team celebrated Senior Night as we recognized six outstanding seniors during their home match against the Islanders. The Vikings made the occasion even sweeter by coming away with a victory!
With an impressive 9–5 record and a sixth-place standing in Division II, this team has plenty to be proud of. But when we look back on this season, it won't simply be the wins and losses that we remember.
It will be the spirit, camaraderie, friendships, and support these young ladies have shown one another throughout the year. These are the experiences that make high school athletics so special and the memories that will stay with our student-athletes long after their final match.
To our six seniors: Thank you for your commitment, your leadership, and the pride you have shown in representing Rogers High School. You have helped create a team culture that our younger players can carry forward.
Congratulations to our seniors, their families, and the entire Girls Tennis Team on a wonderful season!
Well done, Vikings! Keep making memories, building friendships, and representing Rogers with pride! ONE RISE! ALL RISE!
