Cougar Update
October 23rd, 2026
Dear Cougar Families,
A great time was had by all at Trick the Trail sponsored by our Cross Country program. It is an event that is loved by all and I am so thankful for the perfect night for it! I think we had more families attend this year than ever! Thanks to all of the amazing parent volunteers who helped make it happen!
Our Fall Parade and Classroom Parties will take place on Friday, October 30th. The parade will begin at 1:00 PM and will follow our traditional route: we’ll head south on Greenwich St., turn left on Park, left on Andover, left on Colonial, and then make our way back to school. Be sure to find a great spot along the route and get ready to cheer - our amazing Drumming Group will be leading the way!
After the parade, students will enjoy classroom parties organized by our wonderful parent volunteers.
🎃 Costume Guidelines:
To keep things fun and appropriate for all ages, please remember that scary costumes, fake blood, look-alike weapons, and inflatable costumes are not permitted. If a student arrives in one of these, they’ll be able to choose a different costume from our school supply to wear in the parade or party.
If your child would like to participate but doesn’t have a costume, no worries! We have a collection of donated costumes available for them to borrow.
We can’t wait to celebrate this festive tradition with our school community - it’s always one of the highlights of the year!

SCREENAGERS: ELEMENTARY AGE VIEWING OPPORTUNITY
Our families have the opportunity to attend a viewing and discussion event on November 17th at Bluffsview Elementary (Informational flyer and RSVP below). If you can carve out time to attend, I would highly recommend it! Here is a summary of the film for your information:
"This film takes a deeply compassionate look at how digital media shapes the brains and social lives of our youngest learners. Featuring insights from top child development experts, the movie addresses essential topics like managing screen-time meltdowns, building healthy sleep habits, and preventing tech distractions in the classroom. Instead of pushing tech avoidance, it provides parents and educators with practical, science-backed tools to help children build self-regulation and face-to-face social skills."
Please RSVP HERE.
CHTV NEWS
Each week, Mrs. Wiedenhoft and an incredible group of 5th-grade student journalists produce a fantastic weekly news broadcast. To make it easy for you to follow along, Mrs. Wiedenhoft created a website right at the top of our update below the PTA buttons. Check out this week's episode when you get a chance - our students did an amazing job! The equipment for this program was funded by a PTA teacher grant. If you ever wonder about where all of that PTA fundraiser money goes, this is a great example! We are thankful to have such a supportive PTA!
Have a great weekend!
