2026-27 Hoffman Highlights
November 5th - Family Edition
π A Note From the Principal - Mrs. Amy Huson
Happy November, Doris Hoffman Families! ππ
November is officially here, and our Little Indians are off to a wonderful start! This week has been full of colorful fun as we celebrated our THIS or THAT Color Week! π I love seeing the excitement our students bring to even the simplest activities. It's a great reminder that learning at this age should be filled with joy, curiosity, and opportunities to make choices!
As we move further into the school year, I want to encourage our families to continue building on the independence we're working so hard to develop at school. Little things like putting on their own coats, cleaning up toys, making choices, and helping with simple tasks at home make a BIG difference! These everyday opportunities help children develop confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving skills that will serve them well beyond preschool.
I also want to remind everyone that Ms. Cheryl Jackson will be stepping in as substitute principal while I am away for surgery and recovery. I am so thankful to have her support and know our students, staff, and families will be in great hands. Please don't hesitate to reach out to her or our front office if you need anything. You're also welcome to email me, and I'll respond as soon as I'm able.
As I prepare to step away for a little while, I want to thank you again for the love, prayers, and encouragement you've shared. Our Doris Hoffman family is truly something special, and I am so grateful to be part of it! ππ€
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

πͺπ What Are We Learning?
Families & Nature Walks β Week 2! π³π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Next week, we'll continue exploring ELLC Unit 6 β Week 2: Families & Nature Walks! π Our Little Indians will build on what they've learned about families while continuing to discover the wonders of nature!
Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to share family traditions, talk about the special people in their lives, and celebrate what makes every family unique. We'll also continue exploring nature through hands-on activities like sorting leaves, comparing colors and textures, counting natural objects, and observing the changes happening outside. ππ
Week 2 is all about making connections and building confidence! Through stories, conversations, pretend play, and outdoor exploration, our Little Indians are strengthening their language, math, observation, and social skills.
π‘ Try it at home! Take a few minutes to look through family photos and talk about special memories or traditions. You can also collect a few leaves outside and help your child sort them by color, size, or shape!
From family connections to outdoor discoveries, every little experience is another Little Step toward a Big Success! π£ππ€
π Information from Nurse Jessica
With colder weather approaching and hats, coats, and winter gear making their way to school, our nurse wanted to share a few helpful reminders about head lice prevention. This is simply a proactive reminder to help keep our Little Indians healthy and comfortable! Please take a moment to review the attached flyer for helpful tips, including encouraging children not to share hats, brushes, or other personal items and checking your child's hair regularly. Thank you for helping us keep our school family happy and healthy! π

We suggest families plan ahead and complete the process prior to the start of each school year or 10 days prior to an off campus field trips. Volunteers should review the links below. Please contact your child's school office if you have any questions.

π Parents as Teachers Spotlight: Building Independence! π£π
Did you know that letting your child do things on their own helps build confidence and important life skills? πͺ Even simple tasks like putting on shoes, picking out clothes, cleaning up toys, or helping set the table give children opportunities to practice problem-solving and responsibility.
Try giving your child a little extra time to do things independently! It may take longer (and get a little messy!), but those moments of trying, making mistakes, and trying again are how children learn and grow. Celebrate their effort, not just the outcome!
Our FREE Parents as Teachers (PAT) program supports district families from the prenatal period through kindergarten entry with activities, resources, and guidance to help children grow and thrive!
Little steps toward independence lead to BIG confidence! ππ£
πͺ DHELC PTO
Our Doris Hoffman PTO is already working hard to make this a fun and memorable year for our Little Indians! Our PTO is led by President Kellie Cowsert, Vice President Emily Lawson, Secretary Nicole Gipperich, and Treasurer Jordan George, and we are so thankful for the time and energy they give to our school. π
