College Application Updates & Resources
Launch via CaliforniaColleges.edu: Students should start and track all applications through CaliforniaColleges.edu. Hart District courses automatically load into the UC/CSU Academic Section, saving hours! Non-Hart courses (OFL, Mission View, COC) must be entered manually.
Requirements: Community College, CSU, and UC applications do not require SAT/ACT scores or letters of recommendation. Common App schools may require them; students requesting recommendations must submit a Teacher or Counselor Brag Sheet.
By-Weekly Workshops: Get help with applications and FAFSA every Wednesday from Lunch time Room Q8.
Rep Visits & Guides: Check our College Rep Visit website for upcoming campus visits, and access our step-by-step Application Guides for COC, UC, and Cal State.
Paying for College
Why You Should Fill Out the FAFSA/CADAA
๐ฒ Free Money: Automatically applies you for non-repayable federal grants (Pell, FSEOG) and state aid like the Cal State Middle Class Scholarship.
๐ฒ Almost Everyone Qualifies: Nearly every student is eligible for some form of aid, regardless of income.
๐ฒ Free & Fast: It costs nothing to apply and takes under 30 minutes if you have your documents ready.
๐ฒ Unlocks Scholarships & Loans: Many private and local scholarships require it, and itโs the only way to access low-interest federal student loans (which may qualify for loan forgiveness).
๐ฒ Compares College Costs: Financial aid award packages from your FAFSA/CADAA make it easy to compare real costs and make an informed decisionโplus, you only need to fill out one application for all your colleges!

FAFSA & CADAA Application Tips
Launch via CaliforniaColleges.edu: Have your student start their FAFSA or CADAA application directly on CaliforniaColleges.edu to track its progress.
FSA ID Setup: Students and parents must create an FSA ID. Ensure the student's name on their FSA ID matches their Infinite Campus name exactly.
Parent FSA IDs: Joint tax filers only need one Parent FSA ID. Separate filers or divorced parents will need two (one for each parent).
FAFSA vs. CADAA: Students can log into CaliforniaColleges.edu to review which application they should use.
Financial Aid Workshop
With help of COC Financial Aid Representatives will be holding Financial Aid (FAFSA/CADAA) Workshops on December 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Hartโs Library.
Cal State & COC Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
The EOP program provides low-income and educationally disadvantaged students with dedicated support to help them access and succeed in college. Available across the CSU system and at College of the Canyons, EOP offers:
Academic Advising & Priority Registration
Financial Assistance & Scholarships
Personal Counseling
Tutoring & Study Skills Coaching

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
Save Money on Out-of-State College with WUE
Attending an out-of-state college can cost up to three times more than staying in California. The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) helps make out-of-state tuition affordable by allowing qualifying California students to pay no more than 150% of the school's resident tuition rate.
Over 170 Western public colleges and universities participate. Key details to keep in mind:
Qualifying Majors: Not all majors or programs are eligible; schools set their own participating majors.
How to Apply: Application requirements and deadlines vary by institution.
Resources: Check the WUE Website to browse participating colleges, view the WUE Information Sheet, check eligible majors, and read application tips for students.
