Panther Peek @ the Week

Panther Peek @the WeekWeek of 27/04/2025

I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Perth Road PS community for their patience and understanding as we navigated significant disruption to our school's operation last week.

Steady progress has been made in restoring digital services and resources for our students, staff and families. Our dedicated IT team continues to work diligently to ensure that all systems are fully operational as soon as possible. While we are moving through this gradual process, we appreciate your continued patience and understanding.

At this time, our phone system has been restored at the school. Please call the regular phone number, 613-353-2151, to speak to someone in the office.

We are slowing gaining access to online programs including one's used to communicate with families. Please note that at this time, we are still unable to receive external emails. Please call the school and speak with the office administrator or principal, to make requests or share information.

In addition, our ability to print and photocopy has been restored and internet access for staff has been established. Students will be resetting their passwords this week allowing them to regain access to the internet.

Starting Monday morning (April 28) families can begin to report absences through our SafeArrival absence reporting management system and schools can use the tool to contact the families of absent students.

Please be assured that we are taking all necessary measures to safeguard our systems and making sure they are being brought back online as quickly and safely as possible. We will continue to keep you informed as new information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued patience and have a good start to the week!

Student Accident Insurance

The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.

UNDER THE EDUCATION ACT THE BOARD IS NOT PERMITTED TO PROVIDE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR ACCIDENTS TO PUPILS. THEREFORE, the Board recommends consideration of The insure my Kids plan to any parent/guardian, who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent/guardian and the insurance company.

For more information please visit the LDSB website.

School-Day: Permissions & Payments

Perth Road PS is excited to offer our families a secure portal to complete permissions and payments online. With School-Day: Permissions & Payments, you are able to complete permission forms and payments from any web browser using your SmartPhone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

Through this online portal, you will be able to pay for items such as:

  • Field trips
  • Athletic team fees
  • Fundraising offerings

The easy-to-use portal will remove the risks associated with sending money to school with students, the frustration of lost or missing permission forms, and significantly reduce the amount of paper our school consumes.

Follow the link to www.school-day.com and connect to your child’s events and activities.

Communication Regarding Bus Delays and Cancellations from Tri-Board Student Transportation

During the potential inclement weather months (roughly early November to early April), our transportation partner, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services, works closely with their school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school transportation on inclement weather days. To help make the winter season and bus cancellation days easier for students and families to manage, families should sign up for bus status alerts by creating an account in Tri-Board’s Student Portal. Families can add their student(s) to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations. Families can also follow Tri-Board on social media:

  • X/Twitter @TriBoardBus

  • Facebook Tri-Board Student Transportation Services

  • Instagram @TriBoardBus

When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. Tri-Board does their best to post this alert by 6:00 a.m.

The cancellation of school buses does not mean schools are closed. Should the rare need to close a school arise, the information will be communicated by the LDSB and the individual schools.

Learn more about inclement weather days, timing and duration of cancellations, and more on Tri-Board’s website.
