Pride Preview Vol. 14
Q2 Week 13 Nov 10 - 14
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
This week is Kindness Week, and it’s the perfect reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can completely change someone’s day — especially for our students. A simple smile, a note of encouragement, or taking an extra minute to check in can mean more than we’ll ever realize. Let’s all make it a goal this week to go out of our way to make someone’s day a little brighter.
As we head into Career Day on Friday, it’s also a great time to reflect on how fortunate we are to do what we do. Think back to the teacher who inspired you to step into the classroom — and remember that you are now that teacher for someone else.
Teaching isn’t easy, and not every day feels joyful, but your influence runs deeper than you know. When students ask about your job this week, let it be a reminder of the impact you have and the incredible privilege it is to shape the next generation.
Thank you for showing up, leading with kindness, and continuing to make a difference — one day, one child, one kind act at a time. 💛
🦁 Pride Member of the Week: Mr. Walker
Shoutout to Mr. Walker for his dedication to Lipscomb and for returning to campus this year! He and the boys’ basketball team kicked off the season with a big win last week, and he continues to show up for our kids every day with creative, engaging activities in his classes.
We’re so grateful to have him as part of our specials team — thank you coach! ! 💛🏀

National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about youth homelessness and the obstacles that many Dallas ISD students face every day. The more you know about homelessness and how it affects our students, the better equipped you will be to help these students in times of crisis.
A Cornerstone training has been created to help all staff become familiar with the basic rights that are afforded to homeless students.
📱 Dallas ISD Has a New App!
Heads up, team — Dallas ISD has rolled out a new mobile app, and it’s actually pretty handy.
You can grab it from the App Store or Google Play by searching “Dallas ISD.”
Once you download it, parents can:
-
Get quick access to district news and updates
-
See important documents and cafeteria menus
-
Subscribe to their child’s school for school-specific news and alerts
-
Get notifications all in one place
Later this fall, parents will also get access to a new feature called Rooms, which will let them message teachers and school staff directly through the app (no need to juggle multiple platforms).
We’ll be using Thrillshare on our end to post announcements, send updates, and chat with families — and the cool part is that messages will automatically translate into each family’s preferred language.
Bottom line: the app should make it easier for parents to stay in the loop and for us to reach them without having to send things five different ways.
MOVIE NIGHT IS HERE!
-
Grab your chairs, blankets, and the whole family for Saturday Movie Night on November 15!
🎉 Fun activities start at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 7 p.m.
Presented by the Lipscomb PTA — we can’t wait to see you there!
There will be food trucks, concessions (hotdogs, pizza, popcorn, candy, hot chocolate, and apple cider), glow toys, and lots of fun for everyone!

OPERATIONS
🦁 Campus Reset: Hallway & Restroom Expectations
As we enter November, we’re taking time to reset our hallway culture across the building. This isn’t just about order — it’s about student safety. Clear expectations and calm transitions keep every Lion accounted for and ensure that staff can monitor students effectively throughout the day.
-
Hall Passes: All students must have a hall pass during instructional time.
-
Limit Traffic: Only students with medical needs or emergencies should be out during class.
-
Lions’ Hallway: Walk on the right, stay on your square, hands behind your back, voices off, eyes forward.
-
Teacher Monitoring: Teachers actively monitor and lead transitions — no unescorted groups.
-
Lockers: Keep all lockers closed and belongings neatly inside throughout the day.
-
Restrooms: Use restroom helpers, go 3–4 at a time, and keep breaks short and structured.
A consistent hallway culture helps us maintain a safe, respectful, and distraction-free environment where learning can thrive.
CULTURE
Hello! At Lipscomb, we ensure every student stays warm during the winter by providing coats to those in need. Whether a student's jacket is too small, too large, worn out, or they have no outerwear at all, we're here to help! Please include their information below, and myself and the PTA will coordinate the rest. Thank you!
