Dear SHS Families,

Starting the week with the change in weather and returning to a regularly scheduled five-day week was such a blessing. After being forced away for so long, it is definitely easier to appreciate the beauty within what would be considered our ordinary.

One extraordinary thing this week was having Mrs. Nilges take over the 3rd/4th-grade room for the time being as Mrs. Miller is at home taking care of their newest little one. Seeing our students and staff help get her acclimated is such a testament to the character of our students and staff here at SHS. I am certainly proud of you all. If you are the parent of a 3rd or 4th grade student, you should have received a message from Mr. Nilges with the best way to communicate with her. As always you can also reach out to me if needed.

Unfortunately, we have been dealing with some misuse of the restroom stalls in the school.

There have been a few instances over the past month of toilet paper being piled into the toilet to the point where it is sticking above the seat and needs to be removed by the cleaning staff for the toilet to flush again. Most instances of this occurring have been in the boys’ restroom, but it has occurred in the girls’ room as well. All students have been addressed about the issue, and teachers are keeping a closer log of students using the restrooms as we sort out what is going on. Having a conversation with your student about how to properly use the restroom would go a long way in supporting us in this matter.

With Lent beginning next week, students will attend the 8:05 Ash Wednesday Mass and receive their ashes. Though we are not leading the liturgy of this Mass, we encourage you to join us as we begin the new liturgical season.

With Faith & Hope,

Patrick (P.J.) Greer
