PRINCIPAL UPDATE PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Sheiko Families,

It has been a wonderful week of learning at Sheiko Elementary! Our students continue to amaze us with their curiosity and enthusiasm.

We have not one, but two Big Announcements this week!

Our first Big Announcement is about our upcoming Multicultural Night on Friday, March 14th, from 6:30-7:30 PM. This exciting event will allow students to explore and celebrate the diverse cultures represented in our community. Each student will receive a "passport" to "visit" different countries, writing down the names of the countries they learn about at each station. They'll even get a "stamp" for every country they explore! In addition to learning about different cultures, we’ll have a martial arts station, a cultural dance station, and delicious food from a few countries for everyone to enjoy. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and appreciate the rich diversity that makes Sheiko so special.

Our second Big Announcement is that we’re diving into a Pine Tree Book together! Grab your copy of "The One and Only Family" by Katherine Applegate from the Sheiko Library or the West Bloomfield Library. I’ll be reading the book to students on March 11th, 12th, 17th, 19th, and 20th from 7:30-8:00 PM each night. Join us on Zoom: https://wbsd-org.zoom.us/j/4211617208. This is a wonderful way to share the joy of reading together—don't miss it!

We hope you can join us for these exciting events!
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, Gooooooooooo Lakers!

Your partner in education,

Blaine McDowell

Dear Second Grade Families,

West Bloomfield Schools would like to provide important information about our District-wide program for academically curious and imaginative students entering the third grade, the Magnet Program at Scotch Elementary School. This unique program is designed to meet the specific needs of the highly motivated learner in a rigorous multi-age class community. Students are placed into flexible groups of third, fourth, and fifth graders that vary with the curriculum taught. Students have an opportunity to stretch the boundaries of learning in a collaborative and innovative environment. Please visit our District website for more information on program details.

PLEASE BE AT YOUR CHILD'S BUS STOP PLEASE BE AT YOUR CHILD'S BUS STOP

Please be reminded that parents/caregivers are expected to be at the bus stop in the afternoon. If there is not an adult at the bus stop, the child will be brought back to school for parent pick up. If a child is returned to school three or more times, this could result in loss of bus transportation, and we don't want that to happen. In addition, students may not walk to a convenience store, for example, and wait for a parent or caregiver. The bus driver needs to see that the parent/caregiver is present. Thank you for keeping all of our Sheiko Lakers safe!
