Student Spotlight
Congratulations to our 2026 National Merit Semifinalists. This year, LT is home to 15 National Merit Semifinalists. We are so very proud of these students.
We also want to extend our gratitude to the families, teachers, and community members who have supported them on their academic journey. Your dedication has played a vital role in their success.
Congratulations to NJROTC for hosting their inaugural Patriot Day Ceremony at Lebanon Trail High School on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Our NJROTC students and instructors honored the lives lost and heroes who served during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Students, staff, veterans, Blue Star Mothers and local community members were in attendance for the tribute. It was a somber yet beautiful and meaningful day at LT and we are so proud of our students for reminding us of the power of unity, service and remembrance. We Will Never Forget.
Congratulations to our very own Tejasvi Manoj for being named TIME’s 2025 Kid of the Year. What an accomplishment!
In 2024, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center received nearly 860 000 reports of scams , with potential losses totalling nearly $5 billion for people over the age of 60. That is exactly what led Tejasvi on the journey to create Shield Seniors- a website designed to educate the 60- plus demographic of how to detect, report and protect themselves against online scams. Read more about her work here and you can watch her TEDx Talk here: 🎥 TEDx Talk – Tejasvi Manoj. Tejasvi we are so proud to call you a Trail Blazer and we cannot wait to see all the things you no doubt will accomplish in the near future.
This past week, we had the pleasure of celebrating our senior football players, athletic trainers, and cheerleaders. These students have shown incredible dedication and leadership throughout their time at LT. Congratulations to each of these amazing seniors. We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and can't wait to see what you do next. We wish you the very best as you finish your high school career and look forward to cheering you on for the rest of the year.
Congratulations to our awesome Trail Blazer Drumline for their 3rd place finish at the HEB Drumline Contest this weekend in the 5A Advanced Classification. They also earned the distinction of "Outstanding Bass Drum Line". We are so proud of these students.
Congratulations to Trail Blazer Tennis for winning their toughest match yet in District against the Emerson Mavericks. MVP goes to Ryan who dominated in both doubles and singles and match ball goes to Apoline, who played with fire and heart. We wish them good luck in the big match up against Centennial next week.
Congratulations to Drew Malan for taking first place in the 5A-6A division at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival AND for making school history by breaking the school record with his amazing time of 15:15- fastest 5k time in LT history. Congratulations to Varsity Boys for their 4th place finish among FISD teams in the Varsity Elite Competition. Additional shout outs to JV Boys who placed 5th among FISD teams in the JV Elite and JV Girls who placed 2nd among FISD teams in the JV Open.
Congratulations to LT Speech & Debate, for competing and earning top honors at two separate tournaments this weekend. The speech team brought home several trophies from the Prosper High School competition, while the debate team shined at the Grapevine High School tournament.
Six students earned crucial TFA state points, moving them closer to qualifying for the State competition. Among the standout performances:
Jasleen Kaur took 2nd place in International Extemporaneous Speaking.
Darh Chauhan secured 3rd place in International Extemporaneous Speaking and 6th place in Congressional Debate.
Aairah Usmani earned 3rd place in Informative Speaking.
Vai Putla received 3rd place in Program Oral Interpretation.
Joshua Bell advanced to the Congressional Debate semifinals and placed 3rd in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking.

AP & Advanced Class Drop Window
The window for students to drop Advanced or AP courses is now open. We understand that these decisions can be complex, and we want to ensure you have all the necessary information to make an informed choice.
Key Dates and Procedures
Form Availability: Started Wednesday, September 10, students can pick up an Advanced/AP Drop Form from their teacher or the Counseling Office.
Submission Deadline: The completed form, including required parent and teacher signatures, must be returned to the Counseling Office no later than 4:30 PM on Wednesday, September 17.
Effective Date: All approved schedule changes will go into effect on Monday, September 22.
Eligible Changes: This drop window is only for students wishing to change from an advanced or AP class to an on-level equivalent. No other schedule changes will be processed at this time.
Late Arrival/Early Release: Juniors and Seniors who are dropping a course may request a Late Arrival or Early Release period if they do not already have two on their schedule. Students Must have their own transportation and are not permitted to stay on campus during this time.
Specific Course Information
Courses Without an On-Level Equivalent: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics, AP Spanish 4 or 5, AP Euro, AP Music Theory, AP Calc BC, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Art courses. AP Computer Science, AP French 4, Spanish 3 Adv. Dropping these courses will result in a change to a Late Arrival or Early Release period. If the course is a graduation requirement, a counselor will discuss your options with you to ensure you stay on track.
AP Seminar: AP Seminar has a different drop window. It can only be dropped at the 6-week mark and only applies to 11th and 12th-grade students.
Important Considerations
Changes Are Not Guaranteed: Submitting a form does not guarantee a schedule change. Approval depends on seat availability in the requested on-level course.
Grading: If you drop an advanced class, your grade from the first six weeks will follow you to the new on-level course and will be part of your Q1 average.
No Reversals: Once a schedule change is made, it cannot be undone. Please carefully consider your decision before submitting the form. We are unable to predict what a new schedule will look like in advance.
If you have any questions or concerns, we strongly encourage you to speak with your counselor.

Shauna Barnes, from the Grant Haliburton Foundation, brings a strong background in child psychiatry research and a deep passion for mental health awareness and advocacy. She is driven by the belief that adolescents, parents, educators, and community members should be equipped with the knowledge and resources to recognize and support those facing mental health challenges.

Reminders
Action Required: Routine Health Services Consent Form
Starting Sept. 1, 2025, state law (Senate Bill 12) requires parents to give annual consent before school staff can provide routine health services such as first aid, screenings, or short-term counseling. Without consent, only emergency, life-saving care may be given. If you have not done so already, please click here to ensure your student can receive care from the nurse, athletic trainers and counselors.

End of Year & Vacation Planning
As we begin this school year, I want to share an important update about attendance and grading expectations. Unlike in recent years, student grades and assessments will now be collected through the very last week of school. Every instructional day matters, and it is essential that students are present and engaged until the final day of the school year.
We know families often plan trips in advance, but please schedule travel after the last day of school. Missing these last instructional days can affect a student’s learning and may have a direct impact on their final grades.
Access the academic calendar and view our grading practices by clicking on the Campus Assessment and Grading link on our campus website. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure students finish the year strong.
We’re looking forward to a great year of learning together!
