Gullett Geckos
2020-2021 Information for New Families
Welcome to Gullett!
We are very excited to welcome you to our Gecko family! Gullett Elementary is the best school in the world! Here are some of our highlights to look forward to:
- Social Emotional Learning Model Campus: Gullett serves as one of AISD's model campuses for social emotional learning. Our focus is on building resiliency, emotional regulation skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative Learning Initiative: As part of the McCallum Vertical Team, Gullett is one of the first schools to participate in the Creative Learning Initiative. You can find out more about that here.
- Class Gardens: Every classroom has its own garden, and students garden weekly with parent volunteers.
- Animals! We have so many animals from geckos to rabbits to guinea pigs to fish and more! Each grade level is assigned to a category of animals and learns more about that animal. Families are invited to sign up to take our furry critters home on weekends and breaks via Konstella. Did you know that Tina, our African Spurred Tortoise, weighs almost 150 pounds? We host an annual birthday party for her every year!
- Outdoor Learning: We spend lots of time outdoors learning and playing. We have outdoor learning spaces throughout campus.
- Our teachers and staff are the absolute best! This dedicated team of educators goes above and beyond to help every child reach their potential.
We can't wait to get to know you! Welcome, Geckos!

KONSTELLA
Communication is a top priority for us at Gullett. To ease communication, we use one platform for the school, for PTA, for Campus Advisory Council, and for teachers. This is your one-stop place to stay informed. It is the only method we use to send school-wide or grade-level communications. Please make it a habit to read the newsletters that are sent.
If you have not yet joined Konstella, please go to https://konstella.com and enter school code RXZ8I7. (The second to last character is the letter i and not the numeral one.)
Although you can message me via Konstella, I ask that you email me at tisha.brown@austinisd.org instead. Since I make every effort to respond to emails within 48 hours, I am unable to respond to Konstella messages in a timely manner. Thank you!
Gecko Fund
Our annual campaign helps supplement AISD budget provided to Gullett, which only cover the minimal needs of our students. Your donation allows the PTA to enrich our children’s education; to enhance our campus to make it a unique and fun environment to learn; and to ensure are teachers are equipped with the resources to provide the best possible education for our children.
How can families be involved?
- Parent Teacher Association (PTA): We have a very active Parent Teacher Association. Our PTA typically meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm. We welcome all families! Join us here using password: Geckos: https://zoom.us/j/91397189398?pwd=SjRZcDVvODJmdk1FODZQZUhUZDhLdz09
From Animal Care to Grounds & Gardening, there's a committee for you. Our PTA sends out biweekly newsletters on Konstella about upcoming school events.
- Campus Advisory Council (CAC): This council consists of parents, community members, teachers and staff. Serving as an advisory council to the Principal, this group offers invaluable insight and recommendations on policy, budget, professional development, and more.
- Volunteering in the Classroom: Although we will not have on-campus volunteers at this time, we will still need classroom volunteers. Watch for information from your child's teacher.
