CMS Cougar Communication
3/15/2026
Message from Principal Scharmann
Dear Students, Parents, and Families,
We are now a few weeks into the third trimester, and the school year continues to move quickly. With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, it is clear that we are entering the final stretch of the year.
This is an important time for students to stay focused and continue building strong academic habits. We encourage all students to attend school consistently, keep up with assignments, and seek extra help from teachers whenever needed so they can finish the year strong.
We are also seeing an increase in toys being brought to school, including Needohs, squishy toys, and similar items. These items have been causing distractions during class and have become disruptive in learning spaces. As a reminder, toys are not allowed on campus. If these items are brought to school, staff will collect them and they may need to be picked up from the office.
Spring can bring a lot of excitement and energy on campus, but it is also a time for students to stay disciplined and goal oriented as we move toward the end of the school year. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Brian Scharmann (he/him)
Principal
Christensen Middle School
Message from Vice Principal, Ms. Shiffrin Chi
Message from Counselor, Ms. Allen
1. Encourage a love of reading! Visit the library or bookstore with your kids!
2. Ask your kids how it's going in math - look at what they are doing in math.
3. Encourage your child to use their planner to stay organized.
4. Teach your child that homework is a priority!
5. Make sure your child has a good system for organizing homework, etc.
6. Make attendance a priority. Attendance is the #1 school success factor.
7. Get to know your child's friends.
8. Know who your kids are with and where they are going.
9. Be aware of your kids' screen time. Too much is unhealthy.
10. Provide support - spending time with your child gives them a strong sense of self.
We get so busy that we sometimes forget the little things, but it's those little things that add up!
Ms. Allen, Counselor
Message from Athletic Director, Mr. Moore
Registration is now open for anyone interested in participating in our athletics programs this year! Here are the requirements for being cleared to participate in Christensen Middle School athletics:

Students in Ms. Scott’s science class put their engineering skills to the test with a fun hands on challenge. Over the course of the project, students designed and built small cars using only recycled materials that were powered by a rubber band. Once the designs were complete, the class held a race to see whose car could travel the farthest.
Jackson, Vivaan, and Rishik’s car won by a landslide, traveling well past five meters. It was a great example of creativity, problem solving, and applied science in action.
