East families—we have some exciting news to share!
For the first time ever, Unity East has earned an Exemplary designation on the Illinois School Report Card, placing us in the highest tier of schools in Illinois!
This achievement is something our entire Unity East community can take pride in. It reflects the dedication of our teachers and staff (both past and present), the hard work of our students, and the support of our families.
We're also grateful for the continued commitment and investment of our district administration, Board of Education, and broader community, all of whom have helped make East a great place for kids to learn and grow!
Academic Growth
This milestone reflects years of hard work, growth, and commitment to student success. Over the past three years, East has recorded some of our highest levels of students meeting or exceeding state standards in reading and math, building on a decade of steady academic improvement.
The 5 Essentials
Our latest 5Essentials Survey—our annual school climate survey completed by families, teachers, and students—recognized East as Well-Organized for Improvement, with strong results in Collaborative Teachers, Effective Leaders, and Involved Families.
As proud as we are of this achievement, we also know that test scores don't tell the whole story of a school. Every year brings a different group of students, each with their own strengths, needs, and challenges. Some years our scores may rise, and other years they may dip. What matters most is that we continue helping every child grow, build confidence, and reach their potential.
That's a commitment shared across all of our Unity schools, and something I see our teachers and staff put into practice every day. Our Exemplary designation is a wonderful milestone, but it's just one of the many things that make East such a special place. I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together and grateful for the people who make this school what it is.
We also know there's always room to improve. With the dedication of our staff and the continued support of our families and community, I'm confident East will remain a place where students thrive, feel supported, and love coming to school. Our best days are still ahead!
