St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 3 | 3 AUGUST 2026
Loving God,
Thank you for the community of our school.
The parents, teachers, staff, and children who make it what it is.
Help us grow together.
Give us open hearts to welcome others,
generous hands to help where needed,
and patience to listen and understand.
May our school be a place where everyone feels they belong,
and where the love we show one another
becomes an example our children carry with them.
Bless and keep us connected, in purpose and in heart.
Amen.
Dear Parents, carers and friends of St Columba’s,
A Community Worth Celebrating
This week I attended my first P&F meeting, and I came away truly impressed. In every conversation around that table, I saw passion, commitment, kindness and a genuine love for our school. It was there in the way people spoke about their children, their ideas, and their hopes for our community.
Meetings like this are easy to overlook, but they matter enormously. A thriving P&F, and a strong relationship between parents and the school, is what creates that warm sense of community so many of us treasure. It does not happen by accident, it happens because people choose, again and again, to show up.
And our children notice. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we are not just organising events or raising funds, we are modelling something far more important. We are showing them what inclusivity looks like. We are showing them generosity of spirit in action. We are teaching them, simply by example, that community is something you contribute to, not just belong to.
I left that meeting feeling affirmed and genuinely delighted to be part of such a rich, connected community.
BOOK FAIR SUCCESS
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made this year's Book Fair another wonderful success. Thanks to your generosity of time and effort, our children once again had the chance to discover new stories, explore new worlds, and fall a little more in love with reading.
God Bless.

St Columba's Takes Flight at the RoboPro Australia Youth Drone Tournament
Our Year 6 students recently represented St Columba's at the RoboPro Australia Youth Drone Tournament: Australia's largest youth drone competition.
Competing alongside primary and secondary students from across Western Australia, our students put their STEM knowledge, problem-solving abilities and drone-flying skills to the test through a series of exciting challenges. The event encouraged students to think critically, work under pressure and demonstrate precision, teamwork and perseverance in a fun and engaging environment.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced the experience, stepped outside their comfort zones and represented St Columba's with enthusiasm and determination.
A special congratulations goes to Wesley, who was presented with the Target Mastery Award in recognition of his exceptional accuracy, precision and drone control throughout the competition.
We also congratulate Lucas, who received the Sportsmanship Award for consistently demonstrating respect, encouragement and a positive attitude towards fellow competitors and officials.
These achievements are a wonderful reflection of the values our students bring to every opportunity. Congratulations to all of our competitors on an outstanding day!
What a Big Team! We were thrilled to have the most participants in the 2026 WAMC Kids’ Marathon. A fantastic achievement by our young runners and their families - well done!
Mrs Bell was excited to join the team receiving their award - you can admire it in our front office.
