Growing Great Jets—Together!
Dear ACES Families,
Thank you for being your child’s first and best teacher. We appreciate the time, support, encouragement, and guidance you provide each day. We are grateful for your dedication and for the partnership we share as we help our children learn and grow—not only as students, but as members of our school and community.
As our fall activities get underway, we want to remind families of our expectations for elementary students attending after-school events.
Elementary students must remain seated in the stands with a supervising adult during athletic and other after-school events. Students should not be roaming the hallways, running or gathering around concession areas, or playing outside the football stadium gates. Elementary students may not be dropped off at an event without an adult present. If a student is found unattended, he or she will be directed back to the stands.
These expectations are about more than supervision and safety. Our children are still learning! They are learning how to be a Jet Fan—how to watch the game, understand what is happening, cheer for our teams, encourage others, and represent Adams Central well. They are also learning to take responsibility for our shared spaces by cleaning up after themselves when an event ends and leaving the area better than they found it. We are teaching them now so that they grow into middle school and high school students—and eventually adults—who know how to positively support and care for their school and community.
As students grow older and enter middle school, their independence and privileges naturally increase. During the elementary years, however, they still need us nearby to teach, model, and reinforce appropriate behavior.
Thank you for helping us teach these lessons and for reinforcing these expectations with your children. Your partnership matters, and we appreciate you!
Our School. Our Students. Our Responsibility.
Go Jets!

Universal Screener Notice to Parents
Dear ACES Families,
Throughout the school year, our teachers use a variety of assessments to monitor students’ reading development, identify strengths and areas for growth, and make informed instructional decisions. One of these assessments is a universal reading screener.
At Adams Central Elementary, all students in kindergarten through grade 5 will participate in universal reading screening. Indiana law requires universal reading screening for students in kindergarten through grade 2, and Adams Central extends this practice through grade 5 to provide consistent information about the reading development of all elementary students.
Our district uses mCLASS DIBELS 8th Edition, an assessment approved by the Indiana Department of Education. Students will complete the universal screener three times during the school year—at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
Families will receive their child's screening results following each assessment window. If results indicate that your child may be at risk for reading difficulties, we will communicate with you regarding the results and appropriate next steps. This may include additional assessment, targeted instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring. When parent permission is required for additional assessment, we will contact you before proceeding.
Universal screening is one piece of our larger assessment system. The information helps teachers answer an important question: What does this student know, and what does this student need next? Results are used alongside classroom performance, teacher observations, and other assessment information to guide instruction and support.
If you have questions about your child's screening results or reading development, please contact your child's teacher.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to help every student grow as a reader.
Sincerely,
Mary McCullough

Jetliner from the Nurse’s Office
It has been a great start to a new school year. It has been awesome to see everyone back in the
halls. If you are a kindergartner or new student to Adams Central, make sure you turn in your
immunization records as soon as possible. Please call the clinic at 260-692-1125 to let me know
when your appointment is scheduled or if you are having any problems.
If you child has a medical condition (diabetes, allergies, anaphylactic, seizures, etc), please
provide a plan of care from your physician to the nurse’s office. I work from physician orders to
ensure the best care possible.
Medications: Adams Central Community School does not furnish over-the-counter medications
to students such as (Tylenol, Motrin, Tums, Cold medication, etc.) These medications may be
brought in from home and stored in the nurse’s clinic with proper written consent from the
parent/guardian. We will put the student’s name on the bottle and keep the medicine locked
up in the clinic until needed. Medication must be in the original container and kept in the
nurse’s clinic, not in the student’s desk, book bag, lunch box or locker. - If the amount of
medication that should be given exceeds the recommended dosage for their age, a doctor’s
note must be supplied.

Adams County Children's Choir is returning to Adams County! Under the Direction of Brent Neuenschwander Grades 2nd thru 8th Grade
The choir will begin on September 24th with rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm. Rehearsals will be held in the middle of the county at The Lighthouse Church in Monroe and all children in grades 2-8 are welcome to register. The fee is $100 per child for the year, but there are breaks for more than one child and scholarships to make it so that no one is turned away. We will sing sacred music, folk, broadway, and classical music. In addition, we will have regular musical activities in the rehearsal to help with music reading. Throughout the year, there will be periodic concerts culminating with a Spring Concert at the end of the season in early May.
