SCS Community Newsletter
September 11, 2026
Dear SCS Families, Caregivers, and Shelburne Community,
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who figured out a way to carpool, walk, bike, or get your kids on the bus.
We are pleased to share that we received approval to add an additional bus to our fleet to help mitigate some of the timing issues we've experienced so far this year. Please read below for the details.
In Partnership,
Brett, Jen, and Tania
Transportation Updates
- Beginning Monday, 9/14 we will be adding a new bus route to our fleet. We hope this will help mitigate timing issues we were experiencing this year (not related to Bay Rd construction).
- Bus 7 will be running beginning Monday. Families with students now assigned to Bus 7 received an email with this information.
- If your student's bus number has changed, and bus home was a default plan for them in PUP, we have already adjusted your student's new bus number in PUP.
- Routes for bus 3, 5, 6 & 8 have been slighlty adjusted. Please look at the updated bus routes and review potentially adjusted times.
- The late bus will also start running on Monday. The late bus is only for students participating in an SCS after-school activity. The late bus only runs on Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- If you would like your student(s) to ride the late bus home, you MUST note this in PickUp Patrol as a "plan change": Change page > Select the date > Click the Dismissal Plan option > Select the Late Bus plan option from the drop-down> Submit.
- Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve the bus experience for all of our students.

5-8 Curriculum Night
Wednesday, 9/16 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Families and caregivers are invited to come meet your kids' teachers, see their team spaces, and learn more about what’s happening in classrooms across the middle-level community.
The goal of this event is to help strengthen the important partnership between families and teachers by giving you a sense of what your child is learning in the time they spend at SCS each day. You’ll spend an hour with your child’s primary team, and 25 minutes with the Essential Arts (EA) and World Language (WL) teams and me. There may be some choices to make if you have kids on multiple teams and only one adult from your family is able to join, but we’ve structured the night so that you could still hear from both teams in that case. Please see an outline of the specific schedule for the evening below (linked here as well).
Please be sure to arrive a few minutes before 5:00 so we can start on time. With Shelburne Rec soccer and Part 2 pickups taking place, parking will be tricky as always. Please try to park on the School Street side of the building or in Davis Circle if possible. We’ll have someone at the School Street doors and the doors outside the Band/Chorus room to let you in. The backup at the light at Rt. 7 seems to be better on Wednesdays, but parking at the town center and walking is always an option as well.
This is our educators’ opportunity to share what the year ahead looks like in their classes. Accordingly, Curriculum Night is not the place to discuss specific issues related to your child. Conferences are coming up in October and November, and you can always be in touch with their prime group/basecamp teacher if you have questions or concerns about individual progress. If you have any questions before Curriculum Night, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Brett Cluff or your child's team teachers. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing an exciting evening together!
School Photo Days
All students will be photographed from Tuesday, September 22nd through Thursday, September 24th by Ann-Marie with AMV Photography.
Please be on the look out for an email home next week that will let you know which day your child and their class will be photographed.
Approximately two weeks after your portrait day your child will bring home a personally customized order form.
There will be 5-6 different poses of your child on the envelope to choose from. Prints or packages can be purchased of multiple poses; there is no need to pick just one!
A Makeup Day will be announced for sometime in early October for any student who missed the first session or would like their portraits retaken at no additional charge.
Contact Jen Marx at 383-1102, with any photo day questions.
Scenes from Our Week
Basil, sunflowers, and fun—oh my! 🌻
Ms. Erika and Ms. Robin, our dynamic Multilingual teachers, brought hands-on learning to the gardens! From tasting fresh herbs and veggies to playing garden bingo and harvesting onions, our students had so much fun learning, exploring, and getting their hands dirty.
And the best part? It was pretty delicious, too!
