WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE LJH LIBRARY?
This April, the library is diving into an exciting One Book, One School initiative all about second chances and self-discovery! We are thrilled to announce that our entire school will be reading Restart by Gordon Korman. This novel follows Chase Ambrose, a middle school student who wakes up with amnesia after an accident and no memory of who he used to be. As he rebuilds his identity, students will explore powerful themes of empathy, personal growth, and the impact of our choices.
We’re kicking off our One Book, One School event during PSSAs with memory and identity-inspired activities that bring the book to life in meaningful ways:
Finding Dory Viewing – Follow Dory’s journey in Finding Dory as she navigates memory loss, perseverance, and self-discovery.
Identity Gallery Walk: Who Are You? – Students will reflect on what shapes identity and how others perceive us.
The Mystery of You: Predictions – Just like Chase, students will piece together clues to make predictions about identity, character, and change.
Memory & Mind Challenges – Interactive activities that explore how memory works and what happens when it doesn’t.
We can’t wait to explore Restart together and spark meaningful conversations about who we are and who we choose to become. Stay tuned for more details, and get ready for a month of reading, reflection, and discovery!
