Snail Lake Read-a-Thon
Please join us for the Snail Lake PTO Read-a-Thon!
Our Read-a-Thon promotes and celebrates a love of reading while also raising money for our school. Your child has received a packet with information in their folder. We encourage families to track their student’s reading at home from April 15-28. Students can read to themselves, read to others (families, friends, or even their stuffed animals), or have someone read to them. Reading together is a special time to bond and enjoy a great book!
Read - a -Thon funds have been used to enrich student learning with supplemental classroom materials, on-site field trips and guests, new books for the library, supplies for BINGO nights and our end of year Snack Socials, and special grade level and classroom projects. Additionally, we are eager to set up an outdoor learning classroom space at the back of our building. Some of the funds raised will go towards our efforts in starting something new outside for our students!

Our Read-a-Thon Goals
During our read-a-thon, we encourage every student to read a minimum of 20 minutes at home each day of the week (including weekends!) from April 15-28 (20 minutes a day x 14 days = 280 minutes.) In addition, each classroom will spend a minimum of 30 minutes reading each school day, which will be another 300 minutes added to each student’s overall total.
The goals and incentives below will be for the collective group at both the building level and classroom level. We want to encourage all students to participate!

Recess Updates
With the nice weather finally here and additional time outdoors we ask that you please send your child in tennis shoes to school. Jelly shoes, crocs, and sandals make it hard to run at gym and they fill with woodchips on the playground. Thank you.
Save the Date: Island Lake Carnival
Mark your calendars for the annual Island Lake Carnival on Saturday, May 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It’s always a highlight of the year, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our school community! This is a wonderful opportunity for 'Future Wolves' of Island Lake to join other future and current Island Lake families on campus, mingle with new friends and families, and meet some of the Island Lake staff.
Bring the whole family and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun — there will be games with prizes, delicious food trucks, bounce houses, raffle baskets and so much more. Be sure to stop by our "Future Wolves" table located near the front entrance to Island Lake. Incoming 1st graders will receive a special gift from the Island Lake PTA!
If you are interested in volunteering please check out what carnival shifts might still be available: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4EA5A62AA6FCC43-63217970-island#/
We hope to see you there!
