Reminders & January Month at a Glance

Greetings Cedars Families,

I hope you enjoyed the MLK weekend with family and friends. In such unprecedented times, I am hopeful that you find joy and hope in the blessings and the small things that you enjoy. With the world in the current state, it is now more than ever before that we must continue building strong relationships within our Cedars family and community. A similar message was shared with our faculty and staff.

WELCOME BACK!

Happy New Year! 2021 will be an AMAZING year!

I hope you had a safe and joyous holiday! I know our holiday may not have resembled the holidays in the past, but we were able to embrace them in new and innovative ways. Thank you to everyone that attended our Drive-by Cedars Season of Giving before the winter break. If you were unable to attend, we would love to give you a Cedars sign in the curbside meal line from 10 am -1 pm.

All students will return to school on Wednesday, January 6th. Students that are scheduled to be on-campus for remote learning should follow the tips below to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Families that decide to stay home until Austin reaches Stage 3 or 4 will NOT lose your spot on campus.

We have exciting news! The returning student registration window opens earlier this school year! Returning student registration forms for the 2021-2022 school year will be emailed to the primary parent's email address on Monday, January 11, 2021. It's extremely important to register as soon as possible so you don't lose your spot.

The 2021-2022 Admission Application for NEW FAMILIES will go live on the Cedars website by 8 am on Jan 27th and will be added to the current Admission Application at https://www.cedars-academy.org via a drop-down box to select the school year.

For additional information regarding online registration, please visit our website at https://www.cedars-academy.org. If you need assistance, please call the admissions line at (512) 419-1551 Ext. 0.

Sending virtual hug and love,

Ms. Rauls, Principal

One Word for Kids by Jon Gordon

The author of The Energy Bus for Kids has created a kid friendly story about students finding their "one word" using the same characters from the Energy Bus. Below you will find an amateur read aloud video of the story.

From the authors who created the One Word movement, impacting schools, businesses, and sports teams around the world, comes a charming fable that can be read and shared by everyone.

If you could choose only one word to help you have your best year ever, what would it be? Love? Fun? Believe? Brave? It’s probably different for everyone. How you find your word is just as important as the word itself. And once you know your word, what do you do with it? In One Word for Kids, bestselling author Jon Gordon―along with coauthors Dan Britton and Jimmy Page―asks these questions to children and adults of all ages, teaching an important life lesson in the process.

Middle of the Year Benchmarks for Grades 1 - 2

The Middle-of-the-Year (MOY) assessments will be administered online for students in grades 1 - 2 in Reading and Math. We expect students to do their very best on the Middle of the Year assessments. Many educational decisions are based on the results. The test results will help us make focused instructional decisions with regard to your child’s needs. You will receive a letter from your child’s teacher on or about February 4th letting you know how your child scored on these assessments. CLICK HERE OR BELOW to access the parent letter.
