Town of Sunnyvale Weekly Update
Sunnyfest Celebration 2024 - Join Us For a Great Evening of Family Fun!
The Town of Sunnyvale is excited to announce that country music duo, Maddie & Tae, will headline a full evening of live music, fireworks, drone show, food and family fun at the Town’s Sunnyfest Celebration on Friday, June 28, 2024. The “Red, White and Boom!” Sunnyfest Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at Town Center Park, 356 E. Tripp Road.
Award-winning duo Maddie & Tae channel their unbreakable bond, honest songwriting and “some of the tightest harmonies on Music Row” (Rolling Stone) into their new collection of songs Through The Madness Vol. 2, out now. Together as longtime friends and music collaborators, Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr co-wrote each of the project’s tracks, as well as all eight songs on Through The Madness Vol. 1. The pair drew praise for their Gold-certified The Way It Feels album, including the Double Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Die From A Broken Heart.” With “Die From A Broken Heart” topping the country airplay charts, Maddie & Tae became the first and only female twosome with multiple No. 1s.
The evening’s live music will also feature Country music artist Matt Stell who broke through with the 2X PLATINUM “Prayed For You,” the only debut single to top the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2019. The PLATINUM follow-up, “Everywhere But On,” made him one of just a handful of new artists to hit the top twice in a row in six years. In the process, he racked up more than half a BILLION total global streams across his catalog while surpassing 27 million views alone for the official music video for “Prayed For You.”
The Surf City AllStars featuring original Beach Boy David Marks will start the night off beginning at 6 p.m. The SURF CITY ALLSTARS are the only band in the world to have played and sang lead vocals in both the Beach Boys band and the Jan & Dean band.

Storm Debris Removal Underway
Collection of storm debris located at the edge of the road right of way or alley began June 5, and will likely continue for several days. This will be a combined effort of Town departments, Republic Services and DRC Emergency Services. Cutting and bundling brush and limbs are not required for this service. Republic Services will collect small brush piles either at the curb or in the alley. This is a separate service than your regular trash with bulk and bundled brush service. Crews will continue to monitor neighborhood debris levels throughout this process as we understand some residents will need more time to have damaged trees trimmed.
DRC will be using a large claw truck to collect large piles of limbs and stumps at the curb. Please ensure that debris is placed away from vehicles, mailboxes, fire hydrants, and water meters to avoid damage to those items during pickup operations.
The Town of Sunnyvale will also offer a drop off site for tree limbs and other green waste on June 15 at the SISD Intermediate School Parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Town of Sunnyvale will post updates as available on the Town website and on social media. More updates will be provided as the collection efforts continue. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact the Town of Sunnyvale at 972-203-0325.

Firefighter Reunion Event Recap
Sunnyvale Fire Rescue hosted its inaugural Firefighter's Reunion last Saturday, June 1. The event was a wonderful opportunity to honor our volunteers and to grow a strong relationship between the fire department and the community. We thank those volunteers for keeping us safe and paving the way for the eventual full-time fire department that is staffed by professional firefighters and paramedics.
