Congratulations to Haslett High School Choir Students
Haslett High School choirs and vocal soloists compete
Six Haslett High School choirs traveled to Grand Ledge in February to perform for adjudicators from around the state. This evaluation process provides outstanding educational feedback for students and acknowledges their growth and development through the year. All six ensembles received the highest rating of a division I.
During the festival only two ensembles were acknowledged with perfect scores and both were from Haslett! Congratulations to the Treble Choir and Select Ensemble!
In January, our Haslett vocal soloists and small ensembles participated in a similar event! Forty six soloists performed and four ensembles! Forty two soloists and all four ensembles received division 1 ratings and four soloists received division 2 ratings!
We are extremely proud of our Haslett choir students! These events were an incredible display of the student’s work, dedication and musical intelligence!

Middle School and High School Bands Earn Top Ratings
On Friday, March 6th and Saturday March 7th the Haslett High School and Middle School Bands performed at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s (MSBOA) Band and Orchestra Festival at Grand Ledge High School. At the festival, the Bands performed 3 pieces for a panel of 3 adjudicators. Of the three pieces, each band performed a Concert March, a Required Piece from the MSBOA published list and a Selected Tune. Each band was adjudicated in the areas of Tone, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique and Interpretation. Following the concert portion of the festival, the bands entered the sight reading portion. In the sight reading portion of the festival, each band was given 5 minutes to study a piece of music they have never played before. During the 5 minutes, the students were not allowed to play their instruments. After the 5 minutes of study ended, the bands then performed the new piece. Following the concert and sight reading parts of the festival, all adjudicator scores are computed and a final rating is posted. Ratings vary on a scale from 1st (Superior) to 5th (Poor).
We are very happy to announce that the 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, High School Symphonic Band and High School Wind Ensemble earned straight 1’s (Superior Rating) from each adjudicator.
We also would like to thank the parents/guardians, trip chaperones, transportation, HHS/HMS staff and administration for their support with this endeavor.

Addition to the Tennis Courts
A big thank you goes out to Jasper Wawrzynski for the new addition to the high school tennis courts. He took this project on as his Eagle Scout Project and the tennis team as well as coaches helped out with the final installation.
Message from Jasper:
As part of the work to become an Eagle Scout, I needed to complete an Eagle Scout project. I planned and led the construction of a tennis practice backboard at Haslett High School to give players and community members a way to practice independently. I organized the project by designing the structure, coordinating donations, and leading volunteers in tasks such as cutting and drilling the wood, painting the backboard, transporting it to the high school, and installing the backboard. The total project cost was $1,735.87, which was fully covered through generous support from the Haslett Athletic Boosters, MPC Lumber in Williamston, and Home Depot in Okemos. This project will benefit the high school tennis team and the Haslett Community for years to come, and I am grateful for the support from the community and help from friends, family, and the tennis teams who made it possible, and especially Steve Kioski, Ricardo Saenz, and Chuck from the Haslett School District Maintenance and Facilities Team.
