KMS NEWSLETTER

Dear KMS Families,
We are entering a period of leadership transitions at Kodiak Middle School. Mrs. Rena Rankin is beginning her transition to Peterson Elementary, while we prepare to welcome Ms. Judith Bruns as our next Principal and Mrs. Pam Gray as Assistant Principal. This phased transition will continue over the next several weeks to ensure stability for our students and staff, with the new leadership team officially assuming their full-time roles on April 27.
Report cards will be sent home with students this Wednesday. Regarding academics, please be advised that credit recovery for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 has now concluded. We may offer additional after-school credit recovery sessions in the future depending on the number of students who need support.
To help students prepare for the next school year, KMS counselors will be visiting 6th and 7th grade classrooms next week to guide them through the process of choosing their classes. Additionally, counselors from Kodiak High School recently visited our 8th graders and will return to the KMS building this Friday, April 3, to assist them with their official high school course sign-ups.
As a reminder for this Friday's Spring Fling, students must attend at least half the school day on April 3 to be eligible to attend the dance. Additionally, students with Tier 2 or 3 behavior referrals may be ineligible. For safety reasons, once students are signed into the event, they are not permitted to leave the building unless a parent or guardian comes inside to sign them out.
Finally, the entire district is currently hosting a food drive with donation boxes located throughout the building. We encourage students and families to bring in non-perishable items to help support this community effort.
Thank you for your continued partnership and if you have any questions or concerns, as always, we would love to hear from you.
Rena Rankin, Principal
Judith Bruns, Assistant Principal

Beyond the event planning, we are also calling on our students to showcase their artistic side by entering the Class Night t-shirt design contest; just keep in mind that the deadline for all submissions is April 10.
