🐾 This Week at WHS
Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month With Mariachi
The award-winning Mariachi Huenachi was a highlight at the Fiestas Mexicanas celebration in Triangle Park last Friday, bringing energy, vibrant colors, and powerful sounds to the stage. We’re proud to support hispanic heritage and culture through our music and student programs that honor and celebrate our hispanic and latino students and families.
Less than a month into the school year and WHS’ Mariachi Huenachi is already busy performing across Washington state, including the show at Fiestas Mexicanas and an upcoming performance with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán!
Mariachi Huenachi will take the stage to open for the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, hailed as the "greatest mariachi in the world," on October 9th at the Town Toyota Center. This upcoming performance is more than just a concert; it's a truly special moment that signifies a convergence of generations and a symbolic passing of the torch from seasoned legends to rising stars. It promises to be a vibrant celebration of heritage and the enduring power of music.
🏆 Wenatchee Athletics
Girls Soccer defeats West Valley 3-1 on Tuesday and Quincy 4-2 on Thursday!
Girls Swim & Dive has had a fantastic start to the season! On Thursday, they defeated Moses Lake, and last Saturday, they hosted schools from across the state at the Wenatchee Invite meet.
- WHS had 7 divers compete at the Wenatchee Invite, with Maile England and Lily Hansen placing 2nd and 3rd!
- The WHS 200 Freestyle Relay team (Marieka Campbell, Madalyn Moore, Lindsay Sutton, Sadie Sullivan) defeated last year's state champions, Kennady Catholic, by 0.06 seconds!
- Norah Ensdley had a fantastic 500 freestyle with a 7:23.23. She's leading our 500 swimmer squad who all train for this gruelling distance event composed of Halle Choate, Isabel Harris, Charlotte Lee, and Mio Moore.
Congratulations on a fantastic start to the season, Panthers! Thank you to Eastmont and the WRAC, who have welcomed our swimmers at their facilities for practices this fall.

💡 Things to Know
College in the High School: Dates to Remember
Remember: Students enrolled in College in the High School (CiHS) courses need to register with the corresponding university to make sure they receive college credit! Registration for courses through both Central Washington University and Eastern Washington University is open until October 3rd.
If your student is registering for a CiHS class through CWU, you will receive an email asking you to give consent. Please also make sure that your email is current in Skyward to receive current communication! Contact our office at (509) 663-8117 with questions.
CiHS courses are all taught by teachers here at WHS and align with standards at Washington state colleges and universities. CiHS courses are a key element of WHS’ Accelerated Pathways programs, though students do not need to be participating in an accelerated program to take CiHS courses.
Questions about CiHS? Click the link below for more information and a list of CiHS courses at WHS this semester, or ask your teacher! Students in Accelerated Pathways can also ask staff in the new Pathways Center.

Stay Healthy This School Year!
With cold and flu season fast approaching, we want to take a moment and provide some guidance on when to keep your child home from school. In general, students should avoid coming to school when they are too sick to participate in normal school activities. This might include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, severe or uncontrollable cough, or major health events needing accommodation.
Students should return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms begin to improve. Encourage your student to practice proper handwashing and sneezing/coughing etiquette to help stay healthy all year long!
If your student is too sick for school, please contact our attendance office to excuse their absence!
