School Hours: 8:35 - 3:05

Arrival Time Window: 8:25 - 8:35 AM

Why Attendance Is Important Why Attendance Is Important

Every school day counts! Regular attendance helps your child:

  • Keep up with lessons and classroom activities
  • Build strong friendships and social connections
  • Develop good habits for the future
  • Achieve their full potential

Important to know: State attendance reporting does not excuse absences for medical appointments or doctor's notes. All absences, regardless of reason, are counted in official attendance records. While we understand that doctor visits are sometimes necessary, please try to schedule them outside of school hours when possible.

Students are considered absent for the day if they leave before 11:50 AM or arrive after 11:50 AM.

Please see the School Handbook for additional details:
https://www.nrsd.net/o/mres/page/handbook-mre

Arriving On Time Arriving On Time

Students arriving after 8:35 AM are marked tardy and must stop at the office for a pass. Please note that mornings are our busiest time with announcements and attendance, so this may further delay your child's entry to the classroom.

Parent drop-off: Students arriving at 8:36 AM or later are marked tardy.

Bus riders: If the bus runs late, your child is NOT marked tardy.

Helpful tip: Aim for the 8:25-8:35 arrival window so your child can start their day on time and ready to learn! If you're concerned about traffic, plan to leave home a few minutes earlier.

Cold Weather Gear is a MUST! Cold Weather Gear is a MUST!

November is here, and cold weather is definitely with us! We want to help all MRE children stay safe and healthy this season.

Dress for the Weather

Please make sure your child comes to school with:

  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Several layers of clothing
  • Winter coat
  • Boots and snow pants (when there's snow)

Why this matters:
We check the Child Care Weather Watch every day to see if it's safe for outdoor recess. Most days, children WILL be outside, so proper winter clothing is a must!

Morning tip:
Rushed in the morning? Set out winter gear the night before so everything is ready to go.

Keep Lips Healthy This Winter

Cold weather can cause dry, chapped lips. Here's how to help:

  • Make sure your child drinks plenty of water
  • Watch for lip licking (this makes chapping worse!)
  • Use lip balm or unscented ointment throughout the day
  • Send lip balm to school with your child

Label Everything! Label Everything!

Extra Note from Mrs. Frommer

Please take a moment to label all of your child's winter items including:

  • Jackets
  • Boots
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Snow pants
  • Don't forget those lunch boxes and water bottles too!

When items are labeled, we can more easily match them up with your child.

Our lost and found has been overflowing this year! Thanks to a wonderful parent volunteer, it has been organized several times and most recently cleaned out to make room for all the winter gear we expect to land there. We're starting fresh, so now is the perfect time to label everything.
