    Dec 22-Jan 2: Winter Break

Team CV wishes our Coyote Families a Happy Holiday season! School resumes on January 5, 2026!

CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston

    Dear Coyote Families,

What a marvelous week we've shared at Canyon View Elementary! Our Second Grade Character Matters performances were truly outstanding; it was a highlight to watch the audience, especially our proud parents, beaming with smiles and pride at our talented students! We also thank the PTO for hosting a lively Family Bingo Night on Friday. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying time together. Additionally, students practiced safety protocols with a fire drill on Friday afternoon.

This coming week is packed with beautiful music and important community celebrations as we head toward our winter recess. On Monday, our 5th Grade Band and Orchestra students will share their talents at their parent concert. Wednesday brings a special Character Counts Assembly featuring our Westview Ambassadors and Coyote Choir, where we will celebrate the tremendous generosity of our community through the Giving Tree. Finally, on Thursday, our youngest Coyotes will take the stage for the TK and Kindergarten Choral Music parent show.

Please remember that following this week, we will begin our two-week Winter Break! We encourage everyone to enjoy this time with family and return refreshed for the new year.

Let's Make it a GREAT week!

    Warmly,

    Erica Edmonston

    Principal, Canyon View Elementary School

Lights of Winter: Winter Celebrations Around the World, written by Heather Conrad, illustrated by deForest Walker

This past week in the Canyon View Library, we have been talking about the wealth of celebrations and special occasions that happen at year’s end. Many of these holidays share common elements as people gather to light the darkness and create memories. The book “Lights of Winter: Winter Celebrations Around the World” looks into the history and traditions of many different cultures as they celebrate this festive season.

Interested in Visiting or Volunteering at Canyon View?

We love our volunteers! To get started, complete the Level 1 Volunteer Application for Canyon View Elementary at bit.ly/CVESVolunteer or click here (includes TB clearance and Megan’s Law check).

Some roles—like coaching, robotics, or working with students unsupervised—require Level 2 clearance. To obtain or renew Level 2 status, complete the Level 1 steps first, then request a Level 2 form from our office and complete fingerprinting at the PUSD District Office.

If you are visiting campus for a short time—such as attending an assembly, performance, class party or meeting—you do not need to register as a volunteer; simply check in at the front office as a visitor.
