Principal's Message - Mr. Stoney

Dear Mary M. Knight Families,

As we approach the exciting Homecoming week, I'm thrilled to share the fantastic events and achievements happening at Mary M. Knight!

First, let's talk about our upcoming Spirit Week! Starting Monday, 9/30, we're kicking off each day with a fun theme:

This week culminates in our Homecoming festivities, including our football game against Evergreen Lutheran on Saturday at 1:00 PM, followed by the much-anticipated Homecoming dance at 8:00 PM. Speaking of the dance, our "Neon Nights" theme promises to light up the night for our 8th-12th graders! Remember, tickets are on sale in the high school office starting Monday, and they must be purchased by Friday at 3:30 PM – no tickets will be sold at the door. If you're bringing a guest from another school, don't forget to pick up a guest form from Mrs. Beste.

I'm proud to announce our GRIT award winners for the week of 9/23/24:

  • Secondary: Katelynn Blanchard, Chase Tupper, Layla Thomas, Tylee Bowcutt, and Aubrey Lake

Congratulations to these students for exemplifying Growth, Resilience, Intensity, and Tenacity!

I'd also like to recognize our staff GRIT award winners: Mr. Johannes, Mrs. Dodge, Mrs. Jewett, and Mrs. Ehler. Their dedication and resilience continue to inspire our entire school community.

Weekly above the line students

Last year, we had a theme of Above-The-Line and recognized student that were that demonstrated characteristics or actions of being Above-The-Line. This year we will continue our student recognition program as part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) program with our positive referrals and weekly GRIT awards.

Positive Referrals - These are referrals that any staff member can fill out on a student who they feel are consistently demonstrating actions or behaviors related to our OWLS behavior expectations of Ownership, Willingness, Leadership, and Success. When a student received a positive referral, they are give a certificate, contacted home on what they did to earn it, and are posted in the school.

GRIT Awards - In the 2024-25 academic year, we're all about embracing 'Nurturing Resilience, Inspiring Excellence' as our guiding principle. We believe that having GRIT – Growth, Resilience, Intensity, and Tenacity – is key to creating a culture where challenges are seen as stepping stones to greatness. We want to foster a growth mindset in our students and ourselves, understanding that hard work and dedication can help us develop our abilities and intelligence. Student will be nominated weekly if they are demonstrating characteristics of GRIT. Student will receive a certificate and shared out.
