October 27 - October 31
Hi Mustang Families!
We had a fun time at our Lake Elementary Trunk-or-Treat & Madison Haunted House last Friday evening. A special thank you to Helen Darlington, our 8th grade team leader, as well as our teacher and parent volunteers for organizing our students to put on a fun event. Check out behind the scenes pictures of the haunted house and some of our 8th graders who put it on.
Save the date: We hope you'll join us on Friday, November 14 for VUSD night at the Frontwave Arena as the San Diego Clippers take on the Salt Lake City Stars. Some of our performing arts programs will be playing during half time. This is a fundraiser to support the schools in our district, and we encourage you to select Madison at check out when buying tickets. We hope to see you there!
Lastly, this week is Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide campaign that promotes healthy, drug-free living and encourages parents, schools, and communities to reinforce important substance-free messages. During this week, students will learn about the dangers of substance abuse and make pledges to live a healthy lifestyle. We encourage you to participate by discussing these important topics with your children at home and wearing red to show your commitment. See the flyer for our parent workshop this Wednesday evening.
Check out our calendar for this week's and upcoming events including the Halloween costume contest and our Red Ribbon Week dress-up days.
Have a great week!

The Day of the Dead Altar is a Mexican tradition that is celebrate on November 1st and 2nd to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed away. It is believed that on these days, their spirits return to visit their families, and the altar is a way to welcome them with love. The altars are decorated with marigold flowers, candles, photos, food, “pan de muerto,” and personal belongings, which represent the light, memories, and favorite things of those who are no longer with us. It is a beautiful way to keep their memory alive and to celebrate life through love and remembrance.
