Dear Reidy Creek Families,

It was lovely to welcome so many of our parents at our Back to School Night event on Thursday!

Back to School Night is such an important part of the beginning of our school year. It gives parents an opportunity to hear about school-wide goals and initiatives, new programs, and policy reminders and then to learn about grade-level curriculum and classroom expectations. If you missed my overview presentation, I encourage you to watch the recorded video to hear about our goals for the year, test scores, and new programs that are happening this year. Please reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions regarding classroom policies or events.

This week, our PE classes started, and students were excited to be back with Mr. Vieaux and Mrs. Zook. We also had our first fire drill this morning, and the students did an excellent job. We will be having two drills a month (fire, earthquake, lockdown/secure campus) throughout the year so students and staff feel well-prepared in case of an emergency.

We also had a very special guest at our Friday assembly. RC came on stage to remind students of our school-wide expectations and the importance of coming to school each and every day! He reminded us that "every day counts" here at Reidy Creek!

I hope you have a wonderful three-day weekend. We will see you on Tuesday morning!

iReady iReady

This week, most of our 1st-5th grade students started their fall iReady diagnostic tests in both math and reading and will be finishing over the next few weeks. For those of you new to iReady, this diagnostic test is a computer adaptive test that matches the difficulty of test questions to the ability of each student. As students answer questions correctly, the test becomes more difficult. If students answer questions incorrectly, the test becomes easier. The test adapts to find the precise ability of each student in the quickest, most efficient way possible. Immediately after students complete the i-Ready diagnostic, students are given an automated online lesson pathway. Their personalized instruction will begin in the domain in which they placed lowest. Teachers also have the ability to assign specific lessons within a domain to target instruction. You will be receiving a report of your student's fall diagnostic test during conferences in October.

Students will use iReady at times in school, but we also encourage students to complete additional lessons at home in both math and reading once they complete the diagnostic tests. These lessons will allow your child to get access to advanced level work, or additional support in areas of need. For the most growth, students are encouraged to spend 30-50 minutes each week on their pathway. Students will retake the diagnostic test in winter and spring.

Volunteer Information Volunteer Information

Returning volunteers who filled out the volunteer application last year and submitted a TB do not need to fill out the form or submit a TB test again this year. If you are increasing from a level 0 to a level 1 a new application and TB test must be submitted.

Level 0: General School Volunteer

Volunteer working under the supervision of a school staff for school events, in the Family Engagement Center, as a parent leader, on a field trip or on a non-routine basis in the classroom

Level 1: Regularly Scheduled Classroom Volunteer

Volunteer working under the supervision of a school staff in the classroom on a routine, scheduled basis such as a weekly classroom volunteer

TB Tests:

TB Tests can be submitted during the application process and uploaded on the website or can be brought to the school to be verified.

Arrival and Dismissal Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you for all of your support with arrival and dismissal! As students get more comfortable with the morning routine, our drop-off line has run incredibly smoothly. We appreciate your help getting your children ready for a quick exit in the morning and staying in your cars while our staff helps students get to the correct location.

As a reminder, please remember to pull all the way forward and be cautious about blocking the crosswalk and backing up when in line.

As you may have noticed, our parking lot now has designated staff spots. This allows all of our school staff to be able to have a space to park in the morning. There are some visitor spaces along the back of the parking lot if you need to park.

As our dismissal process continues to run smoother and more efficiently, please pick up your child by 3 pm. If students are still outside at 3 pm, they will be brought into the office. Please bring a photo ID when picking them up.

ELOP Classes ELOP Classes

Sign-ups for our first session of enrichment classes went home with your child yesterday. If your child is interested in taking a class, please sign up as soon as possible, as some classes will get full. Students are not officially registered until a permission slip gets sent home.
