York High School Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are having a great week. Last Friday, we were able to have a "soft launch" grand opening of the renovated stadium field. For over six months, we have seen the field transformed into something truly special. We were all able to take the first-ever lap on the new blue track. We listened to music on the state-of-the-art video board and took a school picture in the center of the turf field. It was an amazing morning, and we know how fortunate we are to have this new facility.
Tonight, we will recognize all of our students being inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Société Honoraire de Français, and Deutsche Ehrenverbindung Delta Epsilon Phi. Congratulations to all of our inductees for earning this achievement and joining their respective World Language Honor Societies.
Good luck to our Speech and Debate team as they host a tournament here on Saturday. They will be welcoming 11 high schools across the state to compete in mock congress, two types of debate, and a variety of speech events.
Yesterday, we had another school-wide assembly supporting our goal of increasing engagement and promoting a positive culture. We welcomed the Center for Wildlife, which shared information with our students. They also got to see a beautiful owl. It might not have been new information for them, but it was a great opportunity to come together as a school and have a shared experience.
Just a reminder for all senior families, yearbook photos and write-ups are due 12/1 (that is the Monday immediately after Thanksgiving break).
We look forward to two great days of learning next week before we head into the Thanksgiving holiday break (no school 11/26-11/28). Please enjoy this special time with family and friends, and have a safe and wonderful holiday! If you have any questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Amanda

If you have any questions about the events listed below, please reach out to your student's school counselor for more information.
College Rep Visits
College rep visits are starting up, and they'll be held in person or virtually this year. These visits are a great chance to talk with college representatives about their campuses and what they offer. Sometimes, the reps you meet with are the same admission counselors who will be reviewing your application!
There are many colleges and universities visiting, so be sure to check out all the available slots in Naviance. For virtual visits, it's important to be in a quiet space so you can have a clear conversation.
Juniors and seniors can sign up and reserve their spot through Naviance by clicking on the "What's new" window on your Naviance home page. If you need a quiet place to participate, please let Student Services know ahead of time. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in Student Services.
