2027 SPECIALTY SHOW UPDATES
Winter Specialty – February 2027 – Atlanta GA
Our FEB 2027 Specialty shows in Atlanta are just around the corner! Be sure to save the dates for Saturday and Sunday February 6 & 7!
Our judge panel will be Ms. Debbie Kerr (Kinvaar UK) on Saturday and Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Reed (AKC) on Sunday, also judging Beginner Puppy. Sweepstakes judge is Dr. Deborah Mitchum (Northpointe US).
We will be back at the Drury Inn-Morrow as our host hotel and will also hold our Saturday evening social at the hotel with food, beverages, fellowship and a small live auction. The Drury has been totally remodeled, and they always treat our group wonderfully! BE SURE TO RESERVE YOUR ROOM NOW AS CUTOFF DATE IS JANUARY 8, 2027. Rates are reasonable and also a reasonable one time dog fee. See the website for all the booking information! 2027 35th & 36th Annual Winter Specialty Shows | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Greater Atlanta
The February show is the MAIN EVENT for conformation events for our club! Please consider a placement sponsorship, food sponsorship (for the Social) or general trophy donation. It is because of your generous donations that we can put on these shows with quality judges and prizes. Plus, please consider a volunteer activity when the time comes as many hands help to make light work.
Our Social on Saturday will be an Italian buffet from Olive Garden. We will be downstairs in the conference area at our host hotel. The social starts at 7pm. Come and enjoy the meal, the socializing and the few live auction items we will be auctioning off!
Call For Specialty Show Volunteers!
Volunteers will be needed to help ringside selling raffle tickets, catalogs on Saturday, helping put together the exhibitor bags on Friday after cavaliers show (at the show site), helping with clean up, etc. We especially need folks to stay on Friday after the all breed to pull together our exhibitor bags!
Volunteering at the show is fun (seriously)! The assembly line team putting together the exhibitor bags had fun and it was completed in no time! They did a fabulous job!
Raffle Basket Donations are Needed!
We are also looking for raffle basket donations. So far, we have a puppy size wire crate stuffed with all kinds of puppy goodies and ANOTHER Lamb Chop bed which was our best seller in June!
We could use more! Our June baskets were awesome due to your generosity and the generosity of the vendors who donated. PLEASE let Jim Utych (email: jim.utych@firstgroup.com) know if you wish to donate a basket OR on our monthly call on November 9, let us know what you would be able to donate!
Also, if you would like to donate an item to our live auction at the Saturday evening social, please let Ashley Caserta (Powell) know! We currently have a tapestry handbag going up for the live auction – it is a unique piece with cavaliers.
Our social committee (Beth Lassiter, Jessica Hillman, Victoria Babcock and Nancy Jackfert) are working on a a great Italian buffet for our social!
We would also like to have a silent auction ringside for one or two larger items – we have an EZ Welp generously donated by Linda Whitmire and would love to have another item donated like a puppy gym or something similar.
Sponsorships Are Available
The “Placement Store” is open and available for you to select and sponsor a placement for our February shows. You can dedicate your sponsorship to a beloved cavalier in honor or memory of. These sponsorships defray the costs associated with prizes, rosettes and judges’ transportation. YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT FOR OUR SPONSORSHIP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. We usually have these all sold out and we are running a bit behind so we look again to your GENEROSITY in supporting the Specialty!

SPORTS CORNER: FAST CAT
This month we're providing some background information on Fast CAT as we ramp up for our event in November.
What is Fast CAT?
Fast CAT is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. They earn points according to the dog’s time and its handicap (based on height). Titles are earned based on points and are accrued over the lifetime of the dog. No experience or training is required!
What are the eligibility requirements?
Dogs must be at least 12 months of age, and must be registered with AKC, AKC Canine Partners, PAL Program, or Foundation Stock Service. Females in season can NOT participate. Additionally dogs should not be sick and should be in good physical condition and must pass inspection (no lameness.)
But we've never done Fast CAT before - ack!
No problem! No training is required by either you or your dog! If your dog has ever chased anything in their life, they’ll probably be just fine! You can also have your dog watch other dogs chase the lure on trial day and you’ll get an indication pretty quickly whether or not they will want to chase on their own! If you're still unsure, you can try out a "Fun Run" on trial day - just to see what it's like and not have the run timed or count toward any points. ALSO - the dog doesn't have to technically chase the lure - they just have to run the length of the course! Regardless of your dog's interest (or disinterest), we'll be happy to help you and your dog on trial day!
