The Tiger Connection Week 12
Principal's Corner
What a fun-filled week at SCMS! Homecoming brings students, alumni, and neighbors together to celebrate school spirit and take pride in the community we share. Thank you to Sussex Central High School for welcoming us into its Homecoming festivities. Our students had a wonderful time showing their Tiger pride, connecting with one another, and letting their hair down!
As you read this week’s newsletter, I invite you to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifices of those who have served in the U.S. military. To our veterans, thank you for your service. As we celebrate National Native American Heritage Month, let’s also take time to learn about and honor the rich histories, diverse cultures, and lasting contributions of Native American peoples.
Mark your calendars for our National Family Engagement Luncheon on Thursday, November 19, 2026! We look forward to welcoming you for presentations, activities, and a delicious Thanksgiving meal. We can’t wait to see you there!
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and unwavering support of Sussex Central Middle School. Together, we are making a difference, one Tiger at a time! ~ Dr. Reavis

Attendance Officer Appreciation Week
Last week, we celebrated Attendance Officer Appreciation Week with a special shout-out and lunch to our attendance officer, Mrs. Motton! Thank you, Mrs. Motton, for your dedication to our students and for partnering with families to make every school day count.
Parents and guardians, thank you for helping your children arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Let’s keep showing up, Tigers, and bringing home that attendance trophy each month!
Understanding Special Education This workshop gives families a clear overview of how special education works in Virginia, from referral through services and IEP development. Parents will learn the basic steps, key terms, and their rights under special education law, along with practical ways to participate as an equal member of the team. Families will leave with a stronger understanding of the process, what to expect at each stage, and how to advocate for their child with confidence.
November 19 | 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Hosted by PEATC in partnership with JBLE Langley School Liaison Program Manager, Terrilyn Williams.
Happy Native American Heritage Month!
