The Bulldog Bark
Week of October 26th
🍂 Welcome Back, Bulldog Families!
A heartfelt thank you to all of our families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences! We truly appreciate your time, support, and partnership as we work together to prepare our students for success. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful and rejuvenating Fall Break and returned ready for an exciting 2nd quarter!
We are already firmly into the quarter, and with only four weeks until Thanksgiving Break, there is a lot happening at Galileo! ⚽ Come cheer on our Girls Soccer Team, 🎉 join in the fun of Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days, 🏆 celebrate student success at our 1st Quarter Awards Assemblies, and 🍞🧈🥣 get ready for our first Bulldog Bread, Butter, and Bowls Night coming soon!
Amid all the excitement, our most important work remains the same: helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are proud of the progress our Bulldogs are making and look forward to watching them continue to learn, grow, and succeed throughout 2nd quarter.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Bulldog community. We are better together! 🐾💙
Parents of students receiving an award should have received an invitation at Parent Teacher Conferences OR an invitation via email. Please feel free to call the office (719-328-3300) to check.
Sound Lab Schedule Update
Sound Lab will meet on Tuesday, October 27, from 4:00-5:00 PM. Students who typically stay until 5:30 PM will need to arrange for pickup at 5:00 PM on this date. Please plan accordingly and communicate this schedule change with your student's transportation provider.
Thank you for your support!

Gifted & Talented: Thinking Beyond the Ordinary!
Our Gifted and Talented students have been busy stretching their minds, exploring creative ideas, and tackling challenges that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving! Through collaborative activities, thought-provoking discussions, logic puzzles, and hands-on learning experiences, students are developing their ability to think outside the box and approach problems from multiple perspectives. We continue to focus on creativity, curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork while encouraging students to take intellectual risks and embrace challenges. It's exciting to watch our gifted learners grow in confidence, celebrate their unique strengths, and discover just how powerful their thinking can be!

Once a Bulldog, Always as Bulldog! Meet Coach Drobny
Coach Drobny
Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog! 🐾 Coach Drobny is not only Galileo’s awesome PE teacher, he’s also a Galileo alum and Colorado Springs native! He looks forward to basketball, track, and building great relationships with students each year, and archery is one of his favorite units to teach. What keeps Coach Drobny inspired? Watching young people make positive improvements and grow throughout their middle school years. He is grateful for the opportunity to work with kids each day, and we’re pretty grateful to have him, too!
Say hello to Mr. Isaac Hart! 🐾
Mr. Hart
Mr. Hart is excited to make a positive impact on as many Galileo students as possible, whether that’s through behavior intervention, sports, or working one-on-one with students to tackle projects and reach their goals. When he’s not supporting Bulldogs, you might find him climbing or spending time with what he proudly calls the best husky in the world! 🐕🧗 What Mr. Hart loves about middle school is the wonderfully chaotic nature of these years and, within that chaos, the incredible opportunity for growth. Most importantly, Mr. Hart wants students and families to know that he is here for you! Big or small, he wants to help ensure every Galileo student has the tools and support needed to achieve success.
Meet Mrs. Shirley Moorhead, Galileo’s Community Liaison! 🐾
Mrs. Moorhead
Mrs. Moorhead looks forward to a positive year filled with opportunities to assist students and families whenever they need a helping hand. One of her favorite parts of working with our Bulldogs is getting to know scholars as they make the big transition from elementary to middle school. Outside of Galileo, Mrs. Moorhead enjoys the tranquility of gardening, watching for new fawns and other wildlife, and she has a few surprising talents too. She enjoys barrel racing and has even won a pie-making award at the State Fair! 🥧🐎 Whether she’s supporting a family, welcoming a new middle schooler, tending her garden, or baking an award-winning pie, Mrs. Moorhead brings warmth and care to our Galileo community!
Stay Up to Date with the Bulldog Calendar

September 15th - November 17th
Sound Lab is Galileo's after-school Music program where students learn to sing, play instruments, write music, perform, and work as members of a band. Students will explore guitar, bass, drums, piano, vocals, sound technology, stage skills, songwriting, and collaborative music-making while building confidence, creativity, leadership, and teamwork.
As students' progress, they will form small and large ensembles, prepare performance-ready music, and participate in future Open Mic events and potential community performances representing Galileo's Bulldog PRIDE.
Participation Requirements ✅ Maintain a C average or higher
✅ Commit to participating for the semester
✅ Obtain parent/guardian permission
✅ Submit transportation information
✅ Return a signed Sound Lab Contract
Students who are currently below a C average may still begin the process by completing the Sound Lab Academic Oath and working with their Advisory teacher and club sponsor to improve grades. Once academic eligibility is met, students may transition to full Sound Lab membership.

• Student Name & Grade
• Parent/Guardian Contact Information
• Transportation Plan (bus, parent pickup, guardian pickup, etc.)
