Principals'Newsletter - AprilRavenswood Rambler

Hello Ravenswood Families,

Hello Ravenswood Families,

Firstly, we'd like to extend a warm welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you were all able to be a little lazy, take naps, spend time with loved ones, binge watch tv shows, travel, and anything else that brings you peace and joy! April not only brought showers, but snow as well.. Hoping warmer weather is on the horizon!

This past month, we have been busy at the school with a variety of school and community events that could not have been pulled off without our AMAZING staff, students, families, and FORS!

  • Coffee with the Principals and the Executive Functioning Parent Workshop took place on March 15th. Parents learned some best practices and received tools on how to support their child with transitions, organizational skills, and task completion. We appreciate the parents and guardians that joined us.

  • The Ram Bash - "Party Like It's 1924!" was a huge success. Students dressed to impress in their Roaring 20's garb and danced the night away with DJ White!

  • The Spring Showcase took place on March 21st was a huge success. Students demonstrated their dancing, acting, artistic, and video editing abilities. We are so proud of our Ram artists along with the team of teachers that lead them. Special shout out to Ms. Migas, Mr. Guidry, Ms. Kitty, and Mr. Switzer!

  • On March 16th, the Ravenswood Boys 5th/6th Basketball Team competed in the Network 2 CPS Score Basketball Championship. Coach White led our team through the challenging contest and became the CHAMPIONS of Network 2. Way to go RAMS!

  • Also, on March 16th, the Ravenswood Chess Team tied for 3rd place at their competition. Our very own Brayden Patterson came in 1st place out of 73 kids with five wins and zero losses. Congratulations to our Chess Team, future is bright for Ravenswood's Chess Team!

Thank you for your continued commitment to our school's values and mission. Wishing you all a joyful month.

We'd like to take a quick moment to remind you of the Chicago Public School's policy regarding dogs. Respectfully, dogs are not allowed on the school premises including the playground. Unfortunately, some of our community members have been using the playground as a dog park on the weekends and excrement has had to be cleaned up on multiple occasions on Mondays.

Kindly, please refrain from from bringing your dogs to the playground. Also, if you see dog owners with their pets on the playground, please call 3-1-1 and request CPD to come to the school to address the situation.
