Clubs and Colleges are on the Mind!

“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”

— Henry David Thoreau

This is exactly why we do what we do, to create those mental/emotional paths to help our students succeed. I find myself repeating many things over again, but just as the quote says we must do things over and over in order to create paths. Therefore, I repeat things worth dominating the lives of those career/college-bound, which is our whole student body.

We had a successful and very large Club Rush this week. It was sooooo nice to see the students walking around signing up for clubs that interest them as well as the students marketing their clubs.

We have our guidance nights coming up next week...I highly encourage you to join me to learn about all that you need to about THS, credits, college pathways, etc. This is for both parents and students and if you are unable to make it, that's ok, I will send out the slideshow that I go over to all.

Below is when your student's grade-level guidance night is:

Freshmen (9th) on 9/25 from 5 - 6 pm in the Student Center

Sophomores (10th) on 9/25 from 6 - 7 pm in the Student Center

Another college application workshop is coming up next week as well! It's a great time to dedicate to get questions answered and work on the application.

The Spring 2026 application is now open for the Santa Rosa Junior College. If you plan on taking a JC class in the Spring, please fill out the application and dual enrollment form as soon as possible so you will be ready on December 2nd at 7am to register. The classes for Spring aren't out yet, however, so stay tuned for those in early November.

I have started on my Senior Group Meets during advisory to check in with seniors to see how their postsecondary plans are coming along as well as show them how to use CaliforniaColleges.edu. I have also created a Google Classroom with resources and announcements...ask your students if they have joined yet.

My newsletters are to inform parents mostly, but there will also be information for students. Some information carries over each week, but always look for the new stuff.

I am very easy to get ahold of and respond pretty quickly. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, clarification, or concerns.

See below for friendly reminders: Important Dates, Mental Health Tips/Resources, SRJC information, Scholarship opportunities, and volunteer opportunities.

UC Davis Resources UC Davis Resources

The representative that came to our college/career fair wanted me to pass along these resources to all the students:

  • Our Find My Advisor tool allows students to see all of my recruitment events and also provides a way for them to contact me directly. I generally avoid giving out my direct email address to students; this FMA inbox allows me to filter inquiries separately.
  • This is our digital viewbook for the year.
  • Contact Undergraduate Admissions
  • First-Year Admission

Students can view our upcoming webinars below; they’ll need to register for the event in order to receive the Zoom link to attend.

This comes from a THS Alumni and I would like to continue to share it as a college preparedness tool. There are 23 CSU's (California State Universities), 9 UC's (University of California), many private schools, a wonderful junior college, as well as tons more nationwide. Here is just a sample of what another student shared with me...copy it and make it your own with the schools of your choice.
