We respect the land in which we gather on today.
Grade 5 (23-24)
Staff Spotlight - Ms. Nielsen
Hi, my name is Chelsea Nielsen and I teach Junior High Math, Social, and Options. This is my ninth year at KPS as a teacher. Before that, I taught K/1/2 for two years at Hussar School. I was born and raised in Killam, Alberta, and am also a former KPS student. I currently teach alongside some of my former teachers =)
When I am not in the classroom, you can catch me on a plane jet-setting off to my next country, coaching or playing volleyball, reading, or being active outside. I love sports and am really competitive--ask how the block groups competition has stacked up for the year! I live on an acreage with my husband, our dog, and our cat.
I am proud to teach at KPS and am excited to provide our students with fun experiences, both in the classroom and with our various extra-curricular activities.
Air Quality
A quick reminder about Air Quality and our responsibility to our staff and students. AP 164 - Air Quality, references the Health Canada's Air Quality Health Index. (AQHI) This Air Quality index is a 1-10+ scale that describes air quality.
Unfortunately a large portion of Battle River School Division is not currently covered by AQHI monitoring devices. IQAir.com however does have monitoring devices in Camrose, Wainwright and Castor, so this site gives a pretty good cross section of air quality across our division. IQAir. however does not use the Canadian AQHI 1-10 scale but the more internationally accepted US Air Quality Index (US AQI) as its measurement scale. The US AQI scale uses a 1 - 300+ scale to describe air quality.
Library Books
Please have ALL Library books back to the Library by June 13, 2025. Any library books that have not been returned, there will be a Lost Book Fee put on your Rycor bill at the end of the year.
