CELC News & Updates

Hello Creekside Families,

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! Our daughter's softball team battled in a tournament this weekend. They pulled off 2nd place, losing only by one run in the 7th inning to a team that beat them earlier in the day 0-14. I am so proud of all of the girls! Many of them are former Cubs! It is so great to see smiling faces and to hear cheering again! We are looking forward to her first volleyball tournament next weekend! Even with the restrictions, we are enjoying heading towards normalcy.

Please help us celebrate our staff this week. See the flyer below for suggestions for our Staff Appreciation Week! Also, don't forget about College Day on Monday, Star Wars Day on Tuesday, and Virtual Fun Friday. See flyers below for more information.

Weekly Reminders and Updates:

  • Online registration is open. CELC is hosting Virtual Registration Round Ups to help incoming parents with the registration process and answer any questions about our school and our programs. Please spread the word if you know any families with incoming Cubs. See flyer and link below.
  • PTA needs your support. Please consider purchasing a PTA membership. They also have CELC t-shirts available for purchase.
  • Mark your calendars. The teachers are busy planning in-person promotion ceremonies for our kindergarteners. We will be hosting five different ceremonies over three days. All planning and preparation will be under COVID-19 guidelines. With the help of officials, the District has determined that each student may have a maximum of four guests. We will be sending out a Google Form to track the names and numbers of attendees. Please handle the complexities of family situations prior to RSVPing via the Google Form. Further information to come regarding procedures and guidelines while guests are on the campus. See the schedule below.
  • Join us this week in celebrating our amazing staff. See the flyer below for ideas to bring each day.
  • Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require an extended stay at home.
  • AUSD continues to serve food during our 4-Day Schedule on Mondays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at JMMS. If that time doesn't work for you, there is also a 5:00 pm pick up.
  • Child Nutrition Services offers snack pick up for students at CELC during pick up times on Mondays. The grab and go snack bag will contain 5 days worth of snacks. This is available to all students 18 and under.
  • Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. See the flyer below for May's schedule. Post pictures using #virtualfunfriday
  • The district is still providing free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.
  • The district has tech support available to parents. Please email helpdesk@alpineschools.net with your technology questions.

Don't forget to wear your college shirt tomorrow and a Star Wars shirt on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ripke

Cubs in the Community

The 2020-21 “Cubs in the Community” is still rolling along. With restrictions changing, it has been a little busier than usual. Connecting with kids is one of the most essential parts of building relationships and fostering learning. Mrs. Ripke has set a goal to connect with 100 future, current, and former Cubs in the community by the 100th day of school. If you spot Mrs. Ripke out in the community, please say hi and take a picture with her. Former CELC staff count too! Our pictures may look different this year due to social distancing; however, all of the love will still be there! She can’t wait to hand out hugs again when it is safe. See some of my recent sightings below!

Please call Stephanie in the office if you have any questions: 619-659-8250.

We Are Hiring

If you, or any of your friends/family, love kids and are looking for part time work, please share our postings. We have a couple of positions on our site as well as on other campuses. Please visit https://www.edjoin.org/alpineschools. Creekside is currently looking for two student supervisors. Please send friendly, qualified candidates our way!

The district would like to increase the number of substitute teachers in our pool. The pay has increased to $200 dollars a day. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Ripke.

Meaningful May Calendar

"Exercise should be regarded as a tribute to the heart."

GeneTunney

This month's theme is all about reflecting on what gives our life meaning. Being a part of something bigger than ourselves or focusing on things that we value is key to our well-being. Having a faith, spirituality or being involved with a particular cause or passion can provide this sense of something bigger, or it could be relationships that you nurture and that give your life meaning. Let's take time to reflect on what we care about this month and resolve to try and keep these things at the front of our minds as society starts opening up again.dies, like unplugging from technology, reconnecting with nature and getting more sleep! Join CELC in making more meaningful choices this month.
