Support SGT & SSC with Your Voice
Are you or your student looking to support our school with your time and input? The Mt. Everest Academy School Site Council (SSC) and Site Governance Team (SGT) have open positions! Both SSC and SGT have two parent positions and two student positions (grades 9-12) open for 2 year terms. If you are a parent or student interested in running for a position, please submit your name and a short (3-4 sentence) biography to Principal Browne at cbrowne@sandi.net. Meetings will occur 7 Tuesdays this year. For more information about SSC and SGT, including 2025-26 meeting dates, please see the school website.
Orientation Resources For Your Review
Thank you for attending orientation last week! We appreciate your active involvement as parent partners. We shared lots of material with you, so please reference the slides below if you'd like to review. We are here to support your child's success every step of the way!
PALS is now "BASE Camp"
Our tutoring center/study hall formerly known as PALS has gotten a glow up and a new name! BASE Camp is a great place for:
- students to receive tutoring from older students
- students to work on group/collaborative projects
- students to work on their own or with a friend
BASE Camp will begin next week on Wednesday Aug. 27 in the auditorium and will be available at the schedule below.
- Wednesdays 12:30-2:30
- Thursdays 9:30 - 11:30
- Fridays 9-11:30
Parents/Guardians of students in grades K-5 should complete the CHECK-IN form when signing your student in at BASE Camp so tutors can best support your student.
Are you in grade 9-12 and interested in being a tutor and have not been trained? Please see Ms. Starr and let her know or email her at vstarr@sandi.net. A tutor training will be scheduled soon!
For more information about BASE Camp, check out the BASE Camp website.
Enrichment Classes
Elementary PE (K-5)
We are thrilled to offer an elementary level physical education class again this year! Whether you are a student eager to stay active with classmates and friends, looking for a safe way to learn a new sport, and/or looking to have some fun, MEA PE is the class for you!
PE Enrichment is not just about physical activity, it's about fostering a lifelong love for movement, teamwork, and healthy living. Our mission is to create an environment where every student can thrive physically, socially, and mentally. For more information and how to sign up see the MEA K-5 PE site here.
Music with Mr. Johnson (K-8)
Classes with Mr. Johnson will be offered again on Tuesday mornings for grades K-8. (This day/time is assigned by the district and not chosen by MEA.) If you are interested in having your child participate, please complete this interest survey. The results will be used to create the music class schedule for the year. The class schedule will be announced this week with classes beginning the week of Aug. 25. Mr. Johnson will be available on campus Tuesday, 8/19 from 9-11 for questions.
Jam Band (6-12)
Jam Band is back another year with Mark Fisher at the helm! If you play an instrument or love to sing and are interested in this opportunity for grades 6-12, please complete this interest form to help decide the meeting time. Rock on!
Exciting Travel opportunity for MEA Students!
Dear future MEA travelers,
We are planning a student travel opportunity to GERMANY! All students are invited, not just those taking German. Students in grades 6-8 may also join, but would need to be accompanied by a parent.
Please take a moment to help in our preliminary trip planning by completing this short survey.
*The more surveys that are submitted the more we can earn toward lowering costs for this trip!
Please contact Mr. Spiegelberg ASAP at if you'd like more information!
Drop off/ Pick Up/Parking Procedures
Thank you in advance for helping to create a safe and welcoming campus for all of our students and families.
Elementary (Grades K-5)
Parents just dropping off/picking up and not staying on campus should park in the back lot by the elementary classes and sign their child in with supervising staff. Parents staying on campus should park in the front lot or on Mt. Etna, enter through the front office, and sign in and retrieve a visitor pass.
Secondary (Grades 6-12)
Secondary parents should drop/pick up in the front lot or sign in at the front office if they are staying on campus. Please do not block parking spaces while dropping off/picking up. Instead, please park in a space in the lot or on Mt. Etna.
Call for 2025–2026 ASB Executive Officers!
Last spring, MEA students elected Luke Steel as the 2025–26 ASB President. Now it’s time to choose the rest of the leadership team!
Applications are now open for the positions of Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Club Liaison.
Please read the Candidate Information carefully—it includes important dates, eligibility requirements, and officer expectations.
Enrolled students in grades 10-12 are invited to apply. Eligible candidates may submit their application to an advisor as soon as it is completed, but no later than noon on August 22 .The sooner your application is submitted and approved, the sooner it can be approved and the sooner you can begin to campaign. Elected officers will begin serving in Month 2.
Good luck to all candidates—let’s make this an amazing year for ASB!
Upcoming Events
ASB Sweet Treat Meet & Greet
ASB members will be handing out treats in the lunch court outside the auditorium during lunch this Tues.-Th. Come connect with friends—old and new—and beat the heat with a yummy treat!
Farmstand
Join us for the first MEA Farmstand of the school year! Meet at the front of school on Wednesday, 8/27 from 12-1. Members of our Green Team will help you select fresh produce (harvested from the school gardens) and wonderful gifts. All items are offered on a “suggested donation” basis and we accept cash and PayPal (through our Foundation). Our popular honey vendor, April, will also be onsite with her offerings. She accepts other forms of payment. Don’t miss this!
Coop Group
Calling all students grades 6-12 who are passionate about animals, ecology, birds, or just want to have a fun time! Coop Group leads the upkeep of our resident hen Cleopatra’s enclosure and coop area. Although she is six years old now and not laying eggs anymore, Cleo still appreciates the care and attention she receives from students. It's also a great way to make friends and learn some interesting things about chicken husbandry and general animal care, along with some fun bird trivia! Come join us! Coop Group meets every Tuesday, from 8:30 to 9 am, outside the chicken coop by Room 14 (Science Lab).
