Volunteers needed
zoom_out_map

Volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club

We have a couple of different volunteer options available:

1. One-time Volunteer

  • Lead a group activity with any age group
  • Teach a kid-friendly craft, activity, or skill (1-1.5 hours).
  • No background check required

2. Consistent Summer Volunteer

  • Assist with or run a program over the duration of the summer
  • Opportunity to assist in an existing program or lead your own
  • Flexible but consistent schedule (either 2+ consistent weeks every weekday or 2+ times a week throughout the summer).

We would love to partner with students who are interested in working with kids, exploring leadership opportunities, or gaining hands-on experience in a positive, supportive environment.

Those who are interested need to send an email to provoclubhouse@bgcutah.org with their resume and can expect to have a short interview to determine if they are a good fit for the program and how we can best utilize them as a volunteer.

Volunteers must be 18 by the time they begin their summer volunteering.

Next Steps

If you have been accepted to college in the fall, you may be wondering what to do next.

Accept Scholarships

Each school will have its own process for accepting enrollment and scholarships. Follow instructions sent in your acceptance letter to accept and/or defer any scholarship and enrollment offers by their deadlines.

Deferment

If you are planning to leave after high school for church or military service, it is important that you go through the deferment process for the school you are planning to attend when you return. Each school will have their own process for deferment. Try googling “deferment” and the school you are attending (for example, “Deferment UVU”) and their process should come up at the top of the results.

Housing

Many schools will also have steps for securing housing if you are planning to live on campus. Check your acceptance letter for housing information and be aware of their deadlines.

Meet with an Advisor/Register for classes

Registration for Freshmen for Fall Semester usually begins in April. Check with your school and meet with an advisor at the college if you need help. Many schools have advisors specifically for first year students. Check your admission info or google “Academic Advisor” plus the college (Academic Advisor USU).

Scholarships for Engineering and Architecture-Bound Students

The Great Basin Post of the Society of American Military Engineers invites high school seniors

attending a Utah high school who plan to pursue an accredited engineering degree or architecture degree, or a Construction Management degree to apply for a Lt. Col. G. Roger Sunada $2,500 college scholarship. Award of multiple scholarships is anticipated.

No military service required. Find the application here: http://same.org/gb/scholarship

Due March 20th

BYU-Idaho Returned Missionary Scholarship

Students who enroll in BYU-Idaho within one year of returning from their mission automatically receive a one-time $1000 Returned Missionary Scholarship. Students are encouraged to apply to BYU-Idaho before departing on a mission and then defer their enrollment. For more information visit: https://www.byui.edu/financial-aid/explore-byui-scholarships
