This Sundance Special Jury Prize-winning film unravels post-colonial class disparities in modern day Philippines through the surreal lawns of a luxury golf club.

Filipiñana opens in Boston on September 11th at The Brattle. Winner of the Sundance World Cinema Jury Award for Creative Vision, the film follows Isabel, a 17-year-old from the rural north of the Philippines, who works at a posh country club outside Manila. But something is rotting beneath the pristine fairways of the elite resort, as Isabel discovers when she tries to return a mislaid golf club to its patriarchal director, Dr. Palanca.
