The Weekly Buzz
From Palmer River Elementary School
September 19, 2025
Dear PRES Families,
We had another amazing week at Palmer River Elementary School! Students have settled into routines, reconnected with friends, and shown great excitement for learning, while our staff has jumped right into engaging lessons and meaningful discussions. A special thank you goes to James (pictured above) for a donation of books on behalf of the Rachael Branagan Foundation, and to his grandmother for ensuring our library receives new books each year—their generosity helps foster a love of reading for all. We’re grateful for everyone's continued support at home and look forward to a next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

Congratulations to Mrs. Cheryl Gridley!
Project Archaeology is a national program that uses archaeological inquiry to help students understand past and present cultures, enrich social studies and science education, and promote active citizenship to preserve our archaeological heritage.
We are proud to share that our very own Mrs. Cheryl Gridley, fourth-grade teacher, has been nominated to represent the Northeast Region as a board member for Project Archaeology!
This is a tremendous honor and a reflection of Mrs. Gridley’s passion for education, history, and student engagement.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Gridley on this well-deserved recognition!

🐝The Buzz from the Health Office 🐝
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well! Here are a few friendly reminders and updates from the Health Office:
Extra Clothes
Please pack an extra set of clothes, including underwear, in your child’s backpack. Accidents happen, and it’s not always bathroom related—spilled milk, lunch mishaps, or even messy art projects can leave a child needing a change. Having extras helps them feel comfortable and keeps their day running smoothly.
Medications & Health Plans
If you haven’t already turned in your child’s EpiPen, inhaler, or other prescribed medications, please do so as soon as possible.
All medications must be accompanied by:
A doctor’s order
A completed parent consent form
An Asthma Action Plan (for asthma) or Allergy Action Plan (for allergies)
These requirements ensure safe and effective care for your child during the school day.
Health Screenings
In the coming weeks, we will begin routine health screenings per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines. These include:
Vision
Hearing
Height & Weight
BMI (Body Mass Index)
Nurse Elizabeth
For PreK and Kindergarten Families:
Please see a notification regarding Spot Vision Screening. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Nurse Elizabeth.
