PTA Newsletter: Week of June 1, 2026 PTA Newsletter: Week of June 1, 2026

Bring on Summer!

It is with great pride that I say that this is our final PTA Newsletter for the 2025/2026 school-year! We are in our last 10 days of school... take a deep breath and give yourself a moment to enjoy this moment. Our students are a year older, a year wiser, in their eyes (10 years). Our kids have grown and so have we. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly our kids learn things and how beautiful it is to see them grow up. They have gotten bigger, wiser, smarter, and more creative because of us (because of you).

As I write this last newsletter, I want to take a moment to thank each and every family, teacher, and staff member for all that you have done to support our school and our students. Thank you for showing up for our kids and for our community. Joanna will attest that she has heard this story more than once. I can still recall sitting in New Parent Orientation when our youngest was rolling into Kindergarten and the word "community" was said no less than 20 times in the hour, and going home rolling my eyes, thinking what does community have to do with school.

Now, I know that it has everything to do with it. We have incredible teachers and staff who pour their hearts into our kids and meet each one where they are at. We have loving parents, grandparents, and caregivers who provide support at home and give time when they can to our school. And we have talented and kind students who want to be buddies and give back to their school. Our Bingham Farms Community is so special, and our family has been fortunate to be a part of it.

As I sign off as PTA President, I know that you'll be in great hands. I am excited to see so many PTA members interested in being a part of future programs during the next year. I look forward to seeing you around this summer and wish your family rest and joy during these next few months.

Go Eagles!

2026/2027 Grade Connectors

Ready to represent your child's grade and be the connector between teachers and parents? This position runs the length of the schoolyear. We will have up to four Grade Connectors per grade, with one person selected as Lead Communicator to e-mail teachers and parents. (Note: Lead Communicator role is preferably a parent who has had a child go through that grade previously.) Work together to raise classroom funds in the beginning of the year via Membership Toolkit, send monthly newsletters and general PTA and classroom information upon request, and plan and run (4) parties throughout the year: Halloween, Winter, Valentine's Day & End of the Year. We are not seeking a parent from each classroom necessarily, just up to (4) per grade to work together throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

End-of-Year Teacher/Staff Gift Crowd: Ends 6/10

If your family would like to contribute to a group thank you gift to our teachers/staff, please consider donating to the End-of-Year Gift Crowd. How it works: you select the teachers/staff that you'd like to contribute to and the amount, you can include a message or picture, and when the program closes on June 10th the staff member gets a collective amount to choose gift cards from their favorite stores and restaurants. They will not see the individual contribution, just the total amount. This includes all teachers, support staff, bus drivers, etc. Thank you for your contribution.

Ice Cream Update

Ice Cream Fridays are complete for the school year. Thank you for the support of the program and the volunteers that picked up orders and passed out treats throughout the school year! This sweet program helped to support many PTA events and activities.

  • Bagels will continue until 6/10

Enrollment Services

If you know someone who has a new incoming student to the district, please check with them to make sure they have started the enrollment process. Sometimes people wait until August to start, and it can make the process more challenging. Be a welcoming advocate and encourage them to reach out to the Enrollment staff soon.

School Supply Sales: End 7/13

We are at 56% of our school purchasing kits so far!

The PTA has coordinated back-to-school supply kits with our teachers to set us all up for success in the fall. Check something off your list so you can enjoy summer a bit longer. Last year, over 70% of our school participated in the program. The kits include items that the teachers specifically want, and in many classes, the supplies are shared.

6/1-7/13: regular rate of $70 per kit (JK/K will stay at $62).

How it works:

  • All incoming Jr. K through 5th-grade students will have the opportunity to order their supply kit.
  • When you click on the link to order your kit, please enter our school code: BIN011
  • Once ordered, the kits will be delivered to your student's classroom before the start of school on August 31st.
  • The only thing not included in the kits are corded headphones, which all K-5 students need (not JK).
  • If you have a neighbor or friend joining the school, please tell them about this opportunity.

Field Day

Help celebrate the end of the year with our kids favorite event - Field Day! We need lots of grown-ups to assist with stations. Dress comfortable, bring some sunscreen and get ready to cheer our kids on as they run, hop, and conquer all of the gym class fun. All are welcome. Please have a current iChat form on file with the office. *Hey 5th Grade Grown-ups, this will be your student's last Field Day so help us cheer them on!

All Hands on Deck!

Consider spending 30-60 minutes with us at lunchtime to assist with ice cream distribution or supervise lunchtime recess. You can choose to supervise your students in their play element or jump in and start up a game/activity. Do you love hopscotch, kickball, soccer, or basketball? If so, there are plenty of kids who would love to have you join them at recess. You can stay for the full time block or just your student's recess time (we appreciate what you feel most comfortable with).

Do you love the library, want to help at an event, or help out in other ways? We have opportunities for that too. Volunteer Opportunities are open to all parents, grandparents, caregivers, or other caring adults who would like to support our school. All volunteers must have a current iChat form on file with the office. Thank you for your time.

Box Tops for Education

A great way to support the school is through Box Top$ for Education. Long gone are the days of clipping the barcodes of cereal boxes or soup labels. Download the app, select Bingham Farms Elementary, and each time you shop at the grocery scan your receipt. It will auto calculate the donation and send it to our school! It is easy, and you don't need to know which food or supplies qualify for credit - the app checks for you. Now download that app while you wait for the bus, or in the pick-up gathering zone. Thanks for supporting our school, and be sure to share with friends and family too!
