Principal Message
2026 is rolling are so are our classes. It was a busy week at little Wildwood School with exciting learning across all our classes.
Our classes all got a chance to present a song from their Christmas Concert to the Grande Yellowhead Public School Board. Despite a small hiccup with the sound on our first song the students did amazing providing Christmas in July.
On Thursday, I went to Hinton to present our School Continuous Improvement Plan to the Board. If you would like to see the entire SCIP it is on our website I have also been presenting parts in our newsletter, including today's focus on literacy.
Next week the ad hoc committee on transportation will be meeting on Tuesday to further discuss bussing in the Wildwood area starting in the 2026/27 school year. Also on Tuesday our next School Council Meeting is happening. Wednesday we have pancake breakfast organized by the School Council.
A final note if you have any 1or 2 gallon glass jars you would be willing to donate our grade 4 class would like to use them for an upcoming Science project. We are looking for 6 in total.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out by calling the school at 780-325-3858 or emailing me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles

School Continuous Improvement Plan : Literacy Wins
As part of our School Continuous Improvement Plan we look at data of where we are doing well and where we can improve. Our Literacy programing is a strength here at Wildwood School. The following page from our SCIP shows that we are having less student each year test as being at risk in literacy as well growth in our HLAT scores.

Grade 4s
JK
Wildwood JK - January 13 & 15 Communication:
We had a busy week with a lot of learning!
Our focus letters this week were D, E and F.
We reviewed colors and numbers, by incorporating them into all our activities!
We sang a lot of 1-10 songs and alphabet songs!
Our favorite activities this week during free play were doctors, babies, blocks painting and of course the SAND TABLE!
Thank you again to Brightwood Ranch for Hot Breakfast on Thursday!
NOTES:
1. Our kids are signing out books again and taking them home. Please let me know if this is working for you guys, or if you'd like more books etc.
2. I have stepped back in the morning while our students unpack their bags. They know where their belongings go and what items are to come in the classroom. This is helping with paying attention and independence. This will be very beneficial for next year in Kindergarten.
In a few weeks, we will be cleaning up earlier at the end of the day, and I will teach them how to independently pack up for home time as well.
Thank you,
- Ms. Y - JK Program Coordinator.

Report Cards
Report cards were posted on December 12th, 2025 through the Power School parent portal. If you would like a paper copy please contact Mrs. Erin Hicks at the office, or your student's teacher.
FOPLS
Our students from Evansview, Wildwood, and Grand Trunk High School are coming together under one roof — and we want to make sure they have a playground that brings them together too!
The Friends of Pembina Learning Society (FOPLS) is running a raffle fundraiser to help create a fun, safe, and engaging space where kids can play, grow, and make memories for years to come.
Your support will help make this playground a place our children are proud to call their own!
