Happy Holidays!

Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

It has been a short but sweet week! As a result, not quite as much in the BB as usual!

We do want to congratulate our VEX IQ Robotics teams for their very strong showing at a tournament in Vermont last weekend. The Nomads came in 1st place for the Teamwork competition and was awarded the Excellence Award. Our younger team came in 4th for the Skills Competition out of 17 teams! Congratulations to those students and Coach Rick for all the hard work! More information below.

For the last 7 days, we have been encouraging the GBS staff and students with the Bobcat Builder 7 Day Challenge. Every day, for the last week and a half, they have been given a mission involving; Kindness, Courtesy, Inclusivity, Curiosity, Empathy, Integrity, and a day for celebrating their accomplishments. As our GBS kids always do, they rose to the challenge and were great examples and representatives for all our communities. Encourage them to share a story about what challenge they found the most interesting!

I wish you all in Bobcat Nation a wonderful and joyous Holiday Season!

Sincerely,

Adam Caragher, Principal ~ GBS

Congratulations to Great Brook VEX IQ Teams

The Nomads came in first place in the Teamwork Competition (out of 17 teams competing) and was awarded the Excellence Award (the highest judges award).

"The VEX IQ Excellence Award recognizes overall program quality, requiring top performance in engineering (notebook/interview), robot skills, and autonomous coding, plus strong conduct, essentially crowning the most well-rounded team. Key criteria include a high-scoring Engineering Notebook, an excellent team interview, and being in the top ~30% for both Robot Skills and Autonomous Coding at the event, plus demonstrating sportsmanship and a quality robotics program."

The Awesome Opossums came in third in the Teamwork Competition and came in 4th in the Skills competition, again out of 17 teams. Given that they only got started in Oct and were one of the very few elementary school level teams, this was a remarkable performance!!

Both of these awards qualified them for the NH/VT regional championship in Feb. The Nomads were the top middle school Team and the Awesome Opossums were the tope elementary school team (Grades 5 & 6).

Way to go!
