This Week at GMSS

Good afternoon GMSS families,

We have arrived to the final week of school! It has flown by and May is busy -- We still have a few days of learning left before the final day of FUN!

AWARDS NIGHT:

Our annual academic awards night is Monday, May 19th - you should have received the invitations if your child is eligible for this evening! Students invited to the awards night will also have the luncheon on Thursday, May 22nd. Permission slips were sent home!

CHROMEBOOKS:

Students will keep Chromebooks over the summer- IF your student is transferring out of the district they will need to turn their Chromebooks into the office by Wednesday, May 21st. Feel free to reach out if needed.

LAST DAY of school events:

We kick off the day with our annual Talent Show!

Our 8th grade clap out is 10:30! Our 8th grade students will be clapped out by all students, staff and parents who want to join as they head to the pool! Parents can meet at the sidewalk behind the building between Lincoln and GMSS.

Our 6th & 7th grade will participate in field day beginning at noon!

GMSS celebrated teacher appreciation week this week! A huge thank you and gratitude to our families and PTO for making our staff feel so special!

End of year Parent Survey

Hello South families! It is that time of year again - we are seeking your feedback on our PBIS work at GMSS. We not only value your feedback, but also use it to make changes [most notably, last year families overwhelmingly shared that they would like to see more positive recognition sent home, so we started using a program that emails you all directly with our quarterly awards - Honor Roll, Rocky Balboa, Strong and Steady, MAP MVP, etc - this allowed us to send more than 1,000 positive emails with PDF certificates home this year!!]. Please take a few moments and complete the survey that we can continue to learn, grow, adapt, and hear from you!

Yubbler school supplies:

Our school is now live for ordering. And the discount code will be valid for 30 days from it will be 15% from 05/11/2025 to 05/31/2025 and then will drop to 10% the remaining days in June (until 06/10/25) - it applies to core items only.

As you know, there is no deadline to purchase supplies, however, we recommend purchasing supplies 2 weeks before school starts to ensure all students have supplies for the 1st day of school.

Also, if any parent needs support, please let them know to email us at orders@yubbler.com for any questions or concerns regarding their order.

Athletics

Reminder to our students! This final quarter is what makes you eligible for a fall sport! Passing all classes and having a minimum of a 2.0 GPA is a must!

Please create an account in Final Forms and select ALL sports the student may be interested in throughout the school year. Doing this early helps avoid the need to re-sign forms later and ensures they receive important updates from coaches and the athletic Department regarding conditioning, tryouts, and other key information.
