A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
Thank you for being such a wonderful partner as we kick off the new school year! We’re grateful for your support while our educators take the time to learn all about our incoming students and families.
We treat every year as a brand-new chapter. These initial weeks give our team the opportunity to connect with your children as they are today—fresh, focused, and ready to learn. One of the best things about RES is our incredible staff who chooses to stay here year after year because they adore this work and care deeply about your children.
We are loving this transition period and are so excited for the 2026–2027 school year ahead!
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
OPEN HOUSE: Message from PTA
The PTA is currently gathering information to assess the need for childcare/babysitting services during the upcoming school Open House on Thursday, October 1st.
Even if you are only considering that you may need childcare, please let us know. We are collecting this data to plan accordingly and determine if we can offer this support to families. Please note that we will only be able to consider school-age children (grades K-4).
If you might need this service, please send the following details by Thursday, September 10th to ryenh.pta.president@gmail.com:
- Parent/Guardian Name:
- Number of Children Needing Care:
- Ages of Children:
FAMILY HOMEWORK
We have or will be sending home a FAMILY homework assignment to all students in Preschool-Grade 4. A heart map is a visual reminder of what we love. For this optional homework assignment, we are asking families to create one “Heart Map” per household that tells the story of their family. Within and around the heart, use your imagination and create spaces for things that are important to you—people, places, activities, and memories. Use words, drawings, or a combination of the two to fill your heart completely.
We would love these back by September 10! We want our students to be proud of their families and for our students to get to learn more about one another and those who make up this incredible RES community! We will hang these up in our front lobby so we can all learn about one another.
BUS INFORMATION
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these first days of school, new bus drivers and even unforeseen circumstances. As we navigated a challenging bus situation yesterday that was beyond our control, the office staff and teachers did an incredible job shifting and supporting our students. It amazes me how supportive our families are in these situations as well!
Below is some information that might be useful:
- The code for the bus tracking app is M2D6F.
- The rules around children getting off on the bus alone are as follows...
- Third and fourth graders may get off the bus on their own.
- Students in grades K-2 need to have a visible adult at the stop unless there is a written note that they can get off with an OLDER sibling.
TECHNOLOGY PERMISSION
I wanted to point out the following language from the media release form on PowerSchool and highlight our approach to this form.
Message on PowerSchool
Media Release*
In our SAU, we celebrate and showcase student learning! We often share photos or videos of classroom and extracurricular activities on our school publications, website and social media pages, in order to showcase our activities to our community. Photos and videos typically do not also include first and last names, unless the student is being recognized for a specific accomplishment. If you have specific concerns or questions about the use of your child’s photo or name being shared, please contact your school principal. To opt out, please select the appropriate choice below:
Yes, I give permissionNo, I do not want my child's photograph posted on the school website or social media accounts
IMPORTANT: If a family checks "no," teachers may still take or use student photos in Seesaw, and other applications as desired. However, we may NOT post the student's photo & name on social media or the school websites. Example 1- Principal sends a weekly email to all parents, that is also posted on the school website. A photo posted in this type of publication would require permission from the parent. Example 2 - A teacher would like to post a picture of a student working in their classroom in Seesaw. This would be permitted, as it would not be on the school website or any social Media accounts. (Facebook, instagram, Snap chat, Bluesky, Threads, Twitter, MySpace etc) After reading this specific language, if your family has a specific request about pictures, please email the principal and classroom teacher. THANK YOU!
DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL TIME
- At dismissal, we always want to ensure the safety of our students who are walking to their cars by holding all vehicles until the first three rows are filled. When those 9 cars have their children, the lines will move to allow the next nine cars to fill in. We do need cars ready to move quickly once their student(s) are inside and they are directed to start driving.
- Please do all you can to coordinate children entering and exiting vehicles on the school side of the car. We are trying to avoid walking children in front of cars as much as possible!
- In regards to securing our drop off and dismissal process, please remember that if you are walking or riding in with your child you must stay outside of the Tide Pool Playground. This includes the bike racks and class lines on the concrete. This eliminates any confusion over who is in this area and ensures that our staff can do their job without distraction.
