BSD SPANISH IMMERSION BULLETIN
🍂Fall 2026
Welcome Back to School 2026-27 📚
Dear Spanish Immersion Families,
Juntos aprendemos. Juntos crecemos. Together we learn. Together we grow.
As we begin a new school year, we celebrate what makes our Spanish Immersion community so special: students, families, and educators learning and growing together across our district.
From kindergarten through high school, each step of the immersion journey brings new opportunities for students to strengthen their Spanish, deepen their learning, discover new perspectives, and grow in confidence. The skills they are developing today will open doors to meaningful connections, experiences, and opportunities for years to come.
Most importantly, our students do not make this journey alone. Your encouragement and partnership help them persevere through challenges, celebrate their successes, and take pride in becoming bilingual and globally minded learners.
We are grateful to have your family as part of our immersion community and look forward to all we will accomplish together this year.
¡Bienvenidos! Estamos felices de comenzar este nuevo año juntos.
Welcome! We are happy to begin this new year together.

🌎 The Spanish Language Journey: Growing Together
Learning a second language is a journey—one that grows and evolves as students move through our Spanish Immersion program. From taking their Early Steps in the primary grades to Building Bridges, Finding Their Voice, and becoming Real-World Ready, students develop greater confidence and independence in using Spanish each year.
The infographic below highlights what families might see at different stages of this journey, along with simple ways to encourage Spanish beyond the school day. You don’t need to speak Spanish to support your child! Showing interest, celebrating their progress, and creating opportunities to hear, read, speak, and enjoy Spanish can make a meaningful difference.
Whether it’s labeling household objects, sharing a bilingual story, watching a favorite show in Spanish, listening to music or podcasts, or simply asking your child to teach you something new, every interaction helps strengthen their connection to the language.
Wherever your child is on their Spanish language journey, celebrate how far they’ve come—and all the places their bilingualism can take them!
¡Sigamos aprendiendo, creciendo y celebrando juntos!
Let’s keep learning, growing, and celebrating together!
🎉 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15 through October 15, we will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the vibrant cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.
The celebration begins on September 15 in recognition of the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, with additional independence days celebrated throughout the month.
Across our schools, students will have opportunities to explore the people, stories, traditions, and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through meaningful learning experiences and activities.
We look forward to learning, celebrating, and honoring Hispanic heritage together as a district-wide Spanish Immersion community. ¡Celebremos juntos!
